25 years ago, Nurse Next Door | Home Care Services started with two people who couldn’t get help for the people they loved.

Two cell phones, a Starbucks as a head office, and a belief that there was a better way.

Today we’re thousands of caregivers and team members across four countries, still here for the same reason: making lives better.

If I’m always the one with the answer, I’m not developing people. I’m creating dependence.

Micromanaging can take away the very thing people need in order to grow: the chance to think, make decisions and learn for themselves.

Bold Kind leadership is about giving people the what and why, not the how.

There’s less formality, and people are more likely to say what they actually think.

It means a lot to be recognized alongside so many exceptional people who are building, creating and pushing business forward here in this province.

For the first time in years, women aren’t just stalling in leadership. We’re moving backwards.

I’ve been a CEO for over a decade, and I want to be clear about what this is not. It is not a talent problem nor is it an ambition problem.

Part of the issue is the glass cliff.

Women are more likely to be appointed to leadership roles when an organization is already struggling, then held responsible for conditions they inherited. 

We need to challenge the systems that keep elevating the same leadership profiles and create the conditions for women to lead with real authority, support and autonomy.

To me, that is Bold Kindness in leadership.
