Cobequid Speed Skating Club is hosting a special event taking place in our community this April.

Canada’s speed skating Olympians are bringing their Medals on Tour to Truro in partnership with Intact Insurance – Intact Assurance. This event offers a unique opportunity for athletes, families, and community members to connect with Olympic medalists, hear their stories, and celebrate the spirit of sport.

Our Truro event will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Legion Stadium (14 Lorne Street, Truro). The schedule for the day is as follows:

3:00 – 4:00 PM: Club-only speed skating session

4:00 – 4:45 PM: Public skate

5:00 – 6:00 PM: Q&A and fireside chat with Olympians

Canadian short track skater Maxime Laoun owns 12 sets of blades. He brought five to Milan. They are allegedly identical in every respect, hand-hewn but machine measured. Laoun can still feel the invisible differences between them. Two are his co-favourites.“Numbers 8 and 9.”

CSSC was invited to set up a booth and do a demo at the Don Henderson Memorial Arena in Brookfield this weekend! Thank you to everyone who came to skate and help out. Our table will be set up tomorrow too starting at 1:30pm.
