Seems this is popping up again but no Beef protein supplements are not superior to whey for post workout recovery. They are only more expensive. If you have no issue with whey, use it and get more benefits for your money! Outlaw Strength and I have chatted about this a few times now and keep face palming when we see this false info return. I have a longer form video of this up on YT.

Keto has its uses but high performance sport whether it’s endurance or speed & power related is not its place. Carbs fuel high performance. They allow higher power outputs and for longer periods of time. This is why exogenous carbs (think of those gels, powder mixes or even a banana) are used in sport. They also allow for these higher outputs to occur at a lower perceived exertion meaning more output done but feels easier. Use carbs intelligently and you need to earn them.

Over the past several months I’ve seen a massive spike in coaches hyping isometrics—whether standard, overcoming, or yielding—as the next breakthrough.

They’re not.

Some have even gone as far as claiming they’re a magic bullet for improving speed and jump performance.

The reality is that if your goal is to sprint faster or jump higher, rate of force development is one of the most important qualities you need to improve. Spending a disproportionate amount of time on isometrics while neglecting explosive movement is, in my opinion, a poor trade-off.

A great conversation I had last week with 4×100m Olympic champion JEROME W BLAKE spurred this. And by the way… go give him a follow.

Pleased to announce that my business Risling Podium Performance will be moving to a new home downtown Ottawa this fall. A more “official” post will come. This follows lots of back and forth negotiations with Jennings Real Estate Corporation who were excellent to deal with from start to now.
