Highway to Hell 2026 🏉
This past weekend, the Meadow Lake Rugby Club proudly hosted the largest youth rugby tournament in Saskatchewan.
More than 100 athletes from across Saskatchewan and northern Alberta gathered in Meadow Lake for the annual Highway to Hell Tournament. While the rugby was outstanding, what makes this event special is everything that happens off the field.
Three visiting teams stayed together at Camp Oshkidee, enjoying the beach, canoeing, paddleboarding, beach volleyball, campfires, great food, and plenty of time to build friendships. Friday night featured beach rugby on the shores of Jeannette Lake before two full days of competition on the pitch.
The weekend also included cultural experiences with Waterhen Lake First Nation, the official opening of Crawford Field, skills competitions, flag rugby, and matches for athletes of all ages.
For many players, it was the first opportunity all season to compete against athletes their own age. For others, it was a chance to reconnect with friends from across the province and create memories that will last a lifetime.
As Coach Rufas Crawford shared, the camp atmosphere creates a true rugby experience that is rarely found in other sports. Rugby brings people together, and this weekend was a perfect example of that.
