Community Initiative Grants are back for 2026!

Want to grow disc sports within your community but need financial support to make it happen? Fill out our application form linked in bio. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis as funding allows.

Grants are intended to empower volunteer-led initiatives to grow disc sport participation among equity-deserving groups such as but not limited to:
• Economically disadvantaged communities
• First Nations communities
• Newcomers
• 2SLGBTQ+ communities
• Participants with a disability
• Rural communities
• Women and girls

On Friday June 19 several schools from around the province will be competing at Bike Wentworth for the first ever high school disc golf championship.

This event will be an annual feature in the Wentworth calendar. Our hope is that someday in their not too distant future the majority of schools in Nova Scotia will submit teams.

This year we expect over 50 students from 5 schools in the northern region to take part. Schools will submit teams of two who play a modified 18 hole layout of ‘best disc’ doubles.

Thanks to a partnership with PDGA Canada and Flickline Disc Golf, we’re able to keep costs low for participants while creating a great event experience for these student athletes.

Teams will tee off between 10am-12 noon and will be finishing on the Chickadee between 2pm-3:30pm.

We strongly encourage the public to come out and cheer on these student athletes as they add a new skill to their sport repertoire.

DiscNS will also be on site with a disc golf demo!

Next Monday (June 1) is our first night of pick up and also our celebration of the Art Hawkins Great Canadian Ultimate Game!

What is this? Leagues across the country come together for one week every year to play Ultimate in the name of the Art Hawkins fund. The Art Hawkins Fund has a mission to support the growth, development, and inclusivity of Ultimate in Canada. Funds raised will support Juniors programs, outreach, and more!

When: Monday, June 1st, 6:15 pm
Where: Gorsebrook Field
Who: Players of all experience levels!
Cost: Regular pickup price ($6); can purchase on the HU website in advance or pay in cash at the fields.
What to bring: Water, cleats (if you have them), and white/dark jerseys.

Since this is a Canada wide event 🇨🇦 , teams are usually in white or red (but dark is also fine if you don’t have a red). Bring both, as teams will be assigned on the spot!
