Maskwa athletes Anna and Angie MacDonald have grown up on Kearney Lake. They started paddling at Maskwa in 2020, and this year, both sisters went to Nationals for the first time, excited to race and proud to represent their club.

Anna is a U16 canoer in Academy, and Angie is a U12 kayaker in Development - but both girls jump into races in the other sport whenever asked. They love being on the water, love their teammates, and even join their mom and stepdad at Masters practices. A true Maskwa family. They bring heart, consistency, and a love for the sport that shows up every day - in practice, in races, and now on the Nationals stage together.

Thanks to the support of Strum Consulting, Anna and Angie - along with their fellow Maskwa athletes - worked together to achieve an incredible 4th consecutive title for Maskwa at Nationals!

Maskwa athlete Anna Donahue had an incredible season at Maskwa. She spent her summer sharing her love of paddling with younger athletes, helping them build skills and confidence on the water. She is also proud to be part of Maskwa’s strong women’s kayak program, inspired every day by the older athletes who push her to grow. This year, Anna made it into finals rounds at NTT2, was named to the Canada Cup Team, and brought home three medals - two gold and one bronze. At Champs, she finished 3rd in the 6k and added four more golds to her year.

Anna also had a remarkably strong performance at Nationals, placing 5th in the grueling 6k, capturing two gold medals in the K4 events, and dominant performances in the C15s where she earned two golds and a silver. She raced hard, learned a ton, and came home grateful for the experience, the teammates beside her, and the growth she earned along the way.

Thanks to the support of The Brace Space, Anna- along with fellow Maskwa athletes- had incredible success at Nationals and made the perfect finish... Maskwa proudly won the National title for the fourth consecutive year!

She’s rising.
