While digging through some old horse show memorabilia, we came across a 1996 Royal Manitoba Winter Fair program and found Coach Chris's name scattered throughout the pages competing in multiple jumper classes, including 1.50m Grand Prix competition!

For those who may not know, before becoming the coach and mentor many of our riders know today, Chris spent years competing at the highest levels of the sport. Seeing his name alongside some of the top riders, horses, and stables of the time was a pretty special reminder of the experience and dedication he brings to our program every day.

It's easy to see the coach standing in the arena helping riders reach their goals, but it's moments like this that remind us of the journey behind the lessons. Decades of horsemanship, competition, training, and countless hours in the saddle have all helped shape the knowledge he shares with our riders today.

We're pretty proud to have a coach with this kind of history and experience at Sprout Meadows.

Here's a fun throwback to Coach Chris competing on the big stage in the 1990s!

Warm-up day at Pony Club was a success!

Our riders were organized, supportive, and always ready to lend a hand to one another. We couldn't ask for a better group of teammates who cheer each other on both in and out of the ring.

The warm-up rounds looked fantastic, and everyone is feeling prepared and excited for show day tomorrow.

We look forward to watching each rider continue to grow, gain confidence, and build on their successes throughout the weekend.

At Sprout Meadows, we believe horses are for everyone.

Whether your goal is to learn groundwork, build confidence handling and grooming horses, enjoy time connecting with them from the ground, or work toward riding and rider levels, we're happy to help you create a program that fits your goals.

We welcome all ages, all experience levels, and all interests. Not everyone dreams of jumping courses or competing—sometimes simply spending time with horses is exactly what someone needs, and that's just as valuable.

We also understand that life is busy. Shift work, family commitments, and changing schedules can make it difficult to commit to a traditional weekly lesson program. That's why we offer flexible scheduling whenever possible, whether you'd like to come once a month, every other week, weekly, or multiple times per week.

At Sprout Meadows, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy and learn from horses, regardless of how often they can make it to the barn.
If you've been thinking about getting involved with horses but weren't sure you could fit it into your schedule, reach out—we'd love to chat and find an option that works for you.

Safe to say Obi is a bit of a water baby!

One thing we've consistently found with Oryead's offspring is just how personable, friendly, and easy they are to work with. They genuinely enjoy being around people and are always keen to be involved in whatever you're doing. Sometimes they're a little too comfortable in our personal space... but we'd much rather that than the alternative!

One of the best parts of barn life is the incredible community that comes with it. From helping with horses, cheering each other on, lending a hand when needed, and even keeping Coach Taylor's adorable pony-loving kiddo entertained while lessons are running, it truly takes a village.

We are so thankful for our barn family and all of these amazing, supportive humans who work together to make Sprout Meadows such a special place. The horses may bring us together, but it's the people who make this community feel like home.

Today's entertainment? Cali having a blast playing on the hunter boxes in the big sand ring while everyone pitched in to help.

Barn Vacation Closure Reminder

Just a friendly reminder that our school horses and coaches will be taking a well-deserved week off from Monday, June 22 through Monday, June 29.

This scheduled break is built into our annual program to allow our horses time to rest and recharge, while our coaches enjoy some family time and a chance to refresh before the busy summer season.

There will be NO lessons during this period. Regular lessons will resume following the break.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the health and wellbeing of both our horses and coaching team. We look forward to seeing everyone back at the barn heading into a fun filled Summer!

Grassroots First. Fundamentals Always.

People often forget that horses age differently than we do.

A 4 year old horse may look grown up physically, but mentally they are more like a young adult just beginning life and learning their career. By 20–22, many horses are more equivalent to humans in their 60s–70s.

That perspective is a huge part of our program.
We take our time with our young horses. One new lesson, one new skill, one new confidence builder at a time. We are never in a rush to “finish” them. Some weeks all we focus on is standing quietly, soft transitions, relaxing in new places, or learning to balance correctly. Strong foundations create confident, long lasting partners.

The goal has never been quick results.
The goal is longevity.

And when our horses reach their senior years, we listen to them just as carefully. Around 20–22, workloads and competitions are greatly reduced, if not retired completely. Many become teachers, trail partners, babysitters for young stock, or simply enjoy slower days being loved and cared for.

Horses give us their whole hearts.

They deserve the time to grow slowly and the grace to age comfortably. ❤️

Olympia
2024 Warmblood Filly

Athletic, elegant, and already showing the confident, people-oriented temperament we value so highly. Olympia combines natural balance, rhythm, and movement with the scope and power to excel in both the hunter and jumper rings.

By Oryead (Gallup WF x Uleewa KWPN), carrying elite international jumping bloodlines known for rideability, careful technique, and amateur-friendly brains. Out of Cataleya RPH (Checkmate x Rio Zeus x Zeus), bringing strength, soundness, and quality movement from proven European sport horse lines.

Olympia is halter broke, leads well, enjoys grooming, and loves attention. She is developing into the kind of young horse that turns heads with her presence while still being sensible and easy to work around.
Expected to mature into a competitive prospect suitable for amateur or professional programs alike.
