Ridley's Cycle opened in the heart of Kensington, Calgary in 1945 after Harold Ridley returned from WWII. Today, Ron Uhlenberg and Kristyn Hall own Ridley’s and continue striving to provide the same great atmosphere Harold created. Ridley’s is about people who love to ride bicycles, helping people who love to ride bikes. We are fortunate to have amazing staff with first-hand experience in commuting, road racing, cyclocross, touring, cross country, enduro, downhill, recreational cycling, you name it. We want you to find the right bike and equipment so you enjoy cycling like you did the first time you took off on two wheels. Because of this, we carry the top brands in the industry and deliver them to you through knowledgeable and professional sales staff. Ridley's also offers a full service professional bicycle repair department. From fixing your flat tire and performing basic tune-ups, to complete overhauls on every component of your bike.

👀 New trails, who dis? 🤟

When Nakiska Ski Area invited us out for a sneak peak of their fancy new digs (pun intended 🪏)...you know we couldn't say no. At around just an hour from Calgary, Nakiska is set to become a new summer destination with the only lift-accessed MTB trails in Alberta. Trails are set to open to the public next summer and we cant wait!

Brad, Callum, and Erin got to get a lay of the land plus test out some of the new trails and first impressions are setting expectations for opening day sky high.

Really great flow with big tables, big scoop berms, and fun side hits. Clear sightlines, good protection from the wind, and a really clear progression throughout the mountain should make it not only tons of fun, but accessible too!

But if big, steep, and fast are on the agenda...were pretty sure you're not going to be disappointed either. We didn't get to ride it, but the jump line looked, um, big to say the least. 👀 Check out the massive tunnel jump for exhibit A.

We got to explore and ride with a bunch of our friends from other shops and industry folk and we don't think anyone's been this excited about anything in a while.

Meet Jon one of our rad Ridley’s Ambassadors!

Jonathan Nutbrown has been part of the Ridley’s Cycle community since 2004 and is proud to represent the shop as an ambassador. His racing career began in Ontario in 1996, progressing from U-17 to Senior Elite before moving to Calgary in 2002. Since then, cycling has taken him across Canada and around the world, competing in mountain bike and stage races throughout North America, Portugal, Spain, and Costa Rica, with podium finishes at the TransRockies and multiple Alberta provincial championships as a Masters athlete. Jonathan’s passion extends well beyond racing—he spent six years building Pneuma, the singletrack climb at Moose Mountain, and continues to give back through trail building and mentoring young riders, including helping organize the 2023 Alberta Games Youth Mountain Bike Race. Now 45, he continues to race mountain bikes, gravel, and enduro while sharing his belief that cycling is a lifelong sport that builds community, supports physical and mental health, and provides an incredible way to experience the outdoors.

Introducing another one of our Ridley’s ambassadors Jodi Maetche

Jodi is a Calgary-based mountain biker, entrepreneur, dog walker, and mom who has spent the last 20 years building a life around two wheels and the outdoors. Passionate about creating inclusive and welcoming spaces in cycling, she’s a strong advocate for women and kids on bikes and believes community and connection are at the heart of the sport.

Formerly a mountain bike coach and guide, Jodi has spent years helping riders build confidence on the trails while balancing life as a small business owner and adventurer. Whether she’s riding bikes, chasing dogs through the mountains, or showing up for her community, she brings energy, authenticity, and a deep love for the outdoors into everything she does.

Meet Kai Featherstone one of our ambassadors! 🚵

Kai Featherstone is a passionate and driven young mountain biker with a huge personality and an authentic love for the sport.

At just ten years old, he has already raced in major youth events across North America while continuing to push himself to become faster, smoother, and more confident every season.

Beyond racing, Kai brings creativity and energy to everything he does, from filming fun trail skits to designing and selling his own merch purchased by pro riders. Supported by his dad Devin, a firefighter and photographer who documents the journey,

His favourite rider is Fabio Wibmer, whose creativity and fearless style inspire Kai to ride with imagination, confidence, and joy.

Kai represents the next generation of mountain biking: competitive, creative, community-driven, and fueled purely by passion.
