Cancel the countdown. We’re officially BACK. 🎀🩰✨

Set the alarm. Find the missing ballet shoe. Put the water bottle by the door. And maybe start practising your “we’re leaving in five minutes” voice now. Back-to-Dance season has officially arrived at Mahogany Dance Arts.

But September 12th clearly didn’t think one major event was enough because… IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY. 🎂💕 And this year, we’re hitting DOUBLE DIGITS.

Yep. Mahogany Dance Arts is officially 10. Which feels equal parts how has it already been a decade?! and obviously this calls for a celebration.

So while our dancers are busy getting back to the barre, finding their spots, reuniting with their dance besties, and meeting the new teachers they’re about to become completely obsessed with, we’ll be over here casually celebrating a pretty major milestone.💕✨

And because turning 10 deserves more than an Instagram caption, we put the whole story in writing. Our brand-new blog, “Celebrating 10 Years: A Decade of Dance at Mahogany Dance Arts,” is officially live. Go give it a read and see just how much can happen in ten pretty incredible years. 🎀

✨Your Back-to-Dance Era Starts in 16 Days✨

We’re trading beach bags for ballet buns, flip flops for footwork, and pool days for pliés. 🎀🤍✨☁️ Summer was cute. But Back-to-Dance season is officially taking over.

Dance shoes? Secured. Dress requirements? Screenshotted. Dance bag? Practically packed. First-day outfit? Obviously already planned. 💅✨🩰

The first day of dance at Mahogany Dance Arts is almost here, which means it’s officially time to turn that Back-to-Dance excitement all the way up.

New classes, new teachers, dance besties back together, big goals waiting to be chased, and a calendar that’s about to have a LOT more “dance” on it. ✨ September 12th, we’re coming for you.

Everyone loves the back to dance aesthetic. Fresh ballet shoes. Crisp leotards. A brand new water bottle. 🎀🤍🩰☁️💕

But before your dancer steps into the studio, there’s one thing worth getting right: Dress Requirements.

Because the right attire isn’t just about looking the part. It helps dancers move comfortably, allows teachers to see alignment and technique, and makes those back-to-back class changes a whole lot easier.

Here’s your Back to Dance Dress Requirement Checklist 👇

🎀 Know your dancer’s class day.
MDA attire is grouped by the day of the week your dancer attends their class to make purchasing easier. Before heading to Bodythings, double-check your dancer’s exact class day and time so you’re purchasing the correct attire for their class.

🎀 Keep those shoes together.
Have a dancer taking a COMBO class that requires multiple pairs of shoes? Send all required shoes into the classroom with your dancer in a small dance bag at the beginning of class. One bag. Multiple shoes. Less chaos. 💕

🎀 Label absolutely everything.
Dance shoes. Outdoor shoes. Boots. Coats. Dance skirts. Bags. If it comes off during class, put their first and last name on it. Things can easily get mixed up when dancers are changing shoes and moving between classes, and MDA isn’t responsible for items that aren’t labeled.

✨ The back to dance goal?
Less searching. No swapping. More dancing.

So before that first class of the season, check the dress requirements, get everything labeled, pack the dance bag and let your dancer walk through those studio doors feeling ready.

Right now, everyone’s mentally checked out of dance and into Summer. The patios are packed, the dance bags are hanging on by a thread, and somebody in your house has already lost a flip flop. ⁠

But before we fully disappear into vacation mode, iced coffee runs, and “wait…what day is it?” energy, here are three end-of-season tasks that will make future-you feel organized, unbothered, and wildly ahead of the game:⁠

🌺 Pre-School Passport Party: 
Preschool parents, this is your cue to flip through your dancer’s passport and read their end-of-year comments. Trust us, the sweet little notes, milestones, and confidence boosts inside are the kind of memories you’ll want to hold onto forever. ⁠

🌺 Lost & Found The Sequel
: The studio Lost & Found is currently starring abandoned hoodies, mystery water bottles, lonely dance shoes, and at least three items everyone thinks “definitely aren’t ours.” Stop by the lobby before the final day of classes to claim your dancer’s things before unclaimed items are donated.⁠

Summer camps and Fall classes are officially open for registration and the popular classes always fill-up fast. If your dancer already has their eye on next season, now’s the time to lock it in. 🌺 🌊🌴🍍⁠

The Real MVPs of Recital Season: Our Dance Educators ✨💕🌤️

Our dancers may have been the ones under the spotlight, but behind every confident performance, polished routine, and standing ovation was a team of teachers quietly working their magic. ✨

To our incredible Mahogany Dance Arts faculty: thank you for the planning, the countless costume fixes, the encouraging pep talks, the extra run-throughs, and the kind of energy that somehow makes every dancer feel seen. You teach so much more than steps. You build confidence, resilience, friendships, and memories that last far longer than Showcase weekend. This season was filled with growth, glitter, and a whole lot of heart, and that’s simply because of you. June is officially in its “last class, best class” era. The costumes have hit the stage, Showcase memories are living rent free in our camera rolls, and Summer dance plans are starting to peek through the group chats. 🌼 We know that Summer starts the second the calendar gets colour coded, so here’s your dance down-low for June. ✨🧡✌️

The June Line Up:
🍋June 7th: Individual Photo Day
🍋June 14th: Last day of Classes for the Season
🍋June 14th- All items left in the Lost & Found will be Donated

What’s Waiting In The Wings:
🍋July 13th-16th: Princess Power & K-Pop Dance Hero’s Summer Dance Camps
🍋July 14th: First Day of Summer Sessionals
🍋July 20th-23rd: Pop Star Era Summer Dance Camp
🍋August 17th-20th: Summer Dance Camps

PSA for the dance families: if your dancer has been missing a hoodie, shoe, water bottle, or literally anything with rhinestones on it…check the Lost & Found ASAP. 🌼🧡 All unclaimed items will be donated after the last day of dance.
