Get to know Ashley!
Ashley (she/her) is our founder, artistic director and the person behind all things Maven. At the lead since 2015, she’s taken us from our Army of Sass roots into Maven Movement as we know it today. From running the business to choreography, producing shows and supporting our instructors, she keeps Maven moving. You’ll also find her teaching our Beginner heels class!
What do you love most about Maven?
It blows me away how many dancers keep coming back year after year. It’s a massive compliment that people continue to make space for Maven in their lives. We’re ALL learning, growing and taking risks together. I love seeing people become more confident in how they move and perform, and more comfortable with who they are.
What are you most excited for this year?
Honestly, seeing what the instructors come up with next. I’m fortunate to have such a strong team, and they always step it up. And, of course, I’m ALWAYS excited for show day.
Your teaching style in three words?
Oh gosh - this is a tough question. Why did I include this? Lol… Sensual, grounded, “Ashley Fast.”
A song that always gets you on the dance floor?
Get Me Home - Foxy Brown.
Currently on repeat?
Don’t Remind Me - Amber Mark and Anderson .Paak.
Something your students might not know?
There was a point in my life when I had to choose between competitive swimming and dance.
Secret dream job?
In a lot of ways, I already have my dream job- teaching, creating and performing. But I’d love to add host/emcee. When I saw Chelsea Phillips-Reid () in Magic Mike Live in Vegas, I couldn’t get over the fact that she got to do that night after night. And probably not for the reason you might assume, lol.
