👋 I’m speaking on civility in the workplace soon.

Why?

Most people don’t set out to be uncivil at work.

But pressure, stress, conflict, and repeated frustration can quickly wear down how we communicate, respond, and show up with others.

And when that happens, civility is often the first thing to slip.

Join me in an upcoming talk on this topic.

The hardest business problems are rarely financial.
The numbers are usually the symptom.

What sits underneath is often:
🛑 unspoken expectations
🛑 unclear roles
🛑 inherited assumptions
🛑 loyalty conflicts
🛑 fear of difficult conversations
🛑 decisions shaped by history instead of strategy
And none of that shows up neatly in a spreadsheet.

A business can look healthy on paper while trust is quietly eroding inside the leadership team or family system.

That’s why I choose clarity, with care.
Because clarity changes how decisions get made.
And care is an essential foundational element for it all.

It helps families separate ownership from emotion.
It helps leadership teams speak honestly before conflict becomes structural.
It helps businesses transition, grow, or exit without damaging the relationships that built them in the first place.

The real work is often invisible.
But the cost of avoiding it never is.

Mental Health is not a side conversation.
It’s part of how we lead, live, work, parent, and show up for one another every single day.

Mental health affects all of us. It impacts families, workplaces, communities, and future generations.

🇨🇦 In Canada, 1 in 5 people experience a mental illness every year (CAMH, 2025;  Smetanin et al. 2011)
🇺🇸 In the U.S., 61.5 million adults experienced mental illness in 2024, that is more than 1 in 5 adults (NAMI, 2024)

Why does this matter more than ever?
🛑 Because burnout is being normalized.
🛑 Because stress and emotional exhaustion can be found everywhere, even at work and even more so with the acceleration of technologies.
🛑 Because many people are carrying struggles silently while continuing to show up every day.
🛑 Because workplaces are still not truly focusing on or equipped to support their people to show up at their best.

Awareness matters.
Access to support, real conversations, care, compassion, and prevention matter even more.

One of my favorite mental health recharge moments lately was spending Mother’s Day at iFLY Indoor Skydiving (https://www.linkedin.com/company/iflyus/). Laughing, being present, and making memories reminds us of the importance of joy and connection to our well-being.

Sometimes our mental health requires support.
Sometimes its rest.
Sometimes its creating memories you’ll never forget.

This month, and every month, check in on yourself and the people around you. You never fully know what someone may be carrying.

When an urgent business meeting is met with hospitality 🙏🏻

Thankful to the staff for accommodating me today.

Meeting accomplished on time and confidentially 🙌, and I felt a bit like a special 👰‍♀️ again too

Most people rarely come to me about the work or the job.

They come because they’re trying to do their job inside a leadership dynamic that isn’t working.

It sounds like:
“I don’t feel heard.”
“I’m walking on eggshells.”
“I care about this work, but I don’t know how to have this conversation without make things worse.”

So people try to adjust themselves.
You overthink.
You push through.
You stay quiet.

But real change doesn’t happen by carrying it alone.

It happens when teams learn how to:
– Have honest conversations
– Navigate conflict without avoiding it
– Actually hear each other
– Rebuild trust where it’s been strained

That’s where my work comes in.
Not by “fixing” individuals.

But by helping leaders and teams:
• Say the thing that hasn’t been said
• Understand the impact they’re having (and not intending)
• Rebuild trust in real, practical ways
• Learn how to work with each other, not around each other

You don’t have to carry it alone.

No need to control everything to be clear.
Even when it’s not calm.

After a day in conversation with leaders navigating real shifts, I went to the lake.
Blue skies. Strong wind.

Most people try to manage the environment.
Strong leaders don’t.

They stay clear within it.

One of the most rewarding parts of coaching?

Watching someone see and feel their growth.

A recent client shared:
“...I can both see it and feel it. I’m moving in the right direction and seeing applications everywhere.”

That’s the shift.
Clarity → Confidence → Action
Real change isn’t loud.
It’s steady, intentional, and deeply felt.

Sustainable leadership growth happens when reflection meets real-world action.

Grateful to do this work alongside leaders who are committed to growing, stretching, and showing up differently.

If you’re navigating change, stepping into new leadership demands, or simply feeling the need to reset your direction, this kind of clarity is possible.

“That grinds my gears.”

We’ve all said it.

But what if that feeling isn’t just annoyance?

What “grinds our gears” is often a signal:
• A value being challenged
• A pattern repeating itself
• A boundary that hasn’t been clearly expressed
• Or a story we’ve been carrying longer than we realize

I’ve been noticing that many of the people I work with aren’t coming in because something is wrong.

They’re coming in because something feels off.

Not enough to call it a crisis.
But enough to know it matters.

Together, we are asking:
• “What is this trying to show me?”
• “How do I work through this productively?”
• “How do I lead better because of it?”
This is where growth happens.
Not in the breakdown, but in the awareness before it.

So the next time something “grinds your gears,” instead of dismissing it, try getting curious: What is this really about?

Because those small moments of friction are often pointing to the exact work that moves us forward as leaders, as teammates, and as people.
