Skystone Farm

Skystone Farm Skystone Farm is home to horses and their people. We produce horses for sport and we offer a community for people who want to develop their horsemanship.

Skystone Farm is always evolving, always refining our understanding of what makes a good horseman. A blend of classical and contemporary 'english' riding, our backgrounds are in dressage and showjumping. Yet removed from the business of horses where success is measured by the ability to stay away at horse show venues, we choose to stay home, working with and learning from our partners, the Horses

of Skystone. We are amateurs in the true sense of the word, it is not our profession, it is our passion. Occasionally one of our horses graduates and finds new owners who respect and enjoy all that they are and the fruits of our labours to educate and carefully condition them to accept the demands and whims we impose on them.

Much loved, Canadian boy. Big smile. Shovelling snow in short pants. This is our fabulous grandson, Thomas Rennie, RCMP Kittimat. Never complains. Doesn’t blame others for his life lessons. Thomas always uses his powers to help others. A brilliant contributor. ❤️❤️

Regardless the discipline, It all needs the same foundation: a healthy body, understanding of how to use it and trust in the schooling process. His habitual movement pattern had him pacing at the canter and holding his body with tension resulting in underdeveloped intrinsic muscles. New to the vaulting world, Willie likes his new life as Lynda collaborates with Paul to improve his fitness and understanding of his new job. He is blossoming under Lynda’s patience and appreciation of his willingness to try. Lucky boy.

Conversation between horse and rider. Iuliana sets a high standard in diplomatic communications. This young rider is impressively learning the language.

Doing what we can to reinforce other dogs are not enemies. Otto is non-reactive until they try to attack him. The problem with GSDs is that they get blamed because of their size and intensity when things go wrong. 🤦🏼‍♀️

“Like a bucket on the ocean” he once described her. Now :”It’s like riding on a cloud”. It’s been trial and error. Be willing to question yourself. Allow a dialogue to flow so an autonomous partner feels no coercion. Horses don’t lie. Learn from their side of the conversation and let go of what you think you know, if you’re big enough.
