We are aware that a large number of young riders have been trying to enter our junior events. The response has been much greater than we anticipated, and we have had to make a few adjustments on the fly to accommodate as many riders as possible while still keeping the event running safely and on schedule.
We have also received entries from riders who fall into the Open Bull Riding age division. Because of the number of younger riders trying to enter, we have made the difficult decision to limit the Junior Bull Riding to ages 13–15. Riders aged 16 and older will need to enter the Open Bull Riding.
Our updated divisions are:
🐂 Steer Riding: Ages 10–12
Maximum 6 riders
Entry fee: $60
🐂 Junior Bull Riding: Ages 13–15
Maximum 6 riders
Entry fee: $60
📱 Please text 587-298-0168 to enter the Steer Riding or Junior Bull Riding.
🔥 Riders aged 16 and older will need to enter the Open Bull Riding
🐑 Sheep Riding
Maximum 10 riders
Sheep Riding entries will be posted through a Google Form in the coming days via the Young Bucks Rodeo page. Entries will be accepted on a first-to-enter basis, and parents will be notified once we have reached the maximum of 10 riders.
The junior events begin at 12:00 p.m., with the Open Bull Riding starting promptly at 1:00 p.m. We have 10 sheep riders, 6 steer riders and 6 junior bull riders to fit into that one-hour time slot, so we are unable to accept more than 6 riders in each of the steer and junior bull riding divisions.
We have also heard from several families who were hesitant to enter because they did not want to miss the Valleyview WRA Rodeo. While we cannot guarantee an exact finish time, Woolies & Bullies is typically finished by or before 3:00 p.m., and Valleyview is approximately 45 minutes from Bezanson.
In previous years, several contestants—including riders entered in the Open Bull Riding—have been able to compete at Woolies & Bullies and still make it to Valleyview within that timeline. We will do everything we can to keep the event moving efficiently and on schedule, but riders are responsible for planning their travel and allowing enough time between events.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or confusion these changes may cause. We are doing our best to accommodate everyone, and we truly appreciate the incredible response to this year’s event.
We will take what we have learned from this year’s entry numbers and use it to better plan and structure the junior events for Woolies & Bullies next year. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
