⚫️🔴 ROUND 5 MATCH RESULTS 🔴⚫️
What a special day for the Border Bears as we hosted the club’s inaugural home game at Baranduda Reserve. A huge thank you to everyone who came down throughout the day to support all teams involved and help make this milestone occasion one to remember.
Our women’s side faced a determined Tumbarumba Greens outfit that brought plenty of energy and resilience. Trailing 12–6 at halftime, the girls dug deep and showed exactly what this team is built on — trust, resilience, and playing for one another.
The second-half fightback was a true reflection of this group’s character, with the Bears rallying together to level the scores and finish with an 18–18 draw. While it wasn’t the result we were chasing, the effort, belief, and commitment shown to earn the competition point was something the entire club can be proud of.
Unfortunately, the men’s match was brought to an early conclusion following a serious on-field injury with approximately 20 minutes remaining.
Most importantly, we are pleased to confirm that the player involved has since been cleared of any serious injuries and is now safely recovering at home.
The Border Bears would like to sincerely thank the Tumbarumba Greens for the outstanding sportsmanship they displayed throughout the incident, along with everyone who remained at the ground to offer support. The respect shown by both clubs and the wider rugby league community, including the guard of honour as the ambulance departed, was a powerful reminder of what our game is truly about.
As we head into a well-earned bye week, both Bears sides have put themselves in a strong position after the first 5 rounds of the season. Our women currently sit 2nd on the ladder, while our men remain within 1st place by themselves!
The foundations are being built, the momentum is growing, and this club continues to move forward together.
