⚡️ WEIPA BMX WILL BE BACK ON THE GRID⚡️

We’ve been advised that our mains power will be restored today, which means we can finally say goodbye to our generators! 🙌

With mains power back, Robon Electrical are ready to work alongside our hardworking committee electricians to start tackling some long-term fixes for power to the clubhouse, toilets and compressor. Once that’s sorted, we’ll also be able to troubleshoot the start gate! 🔧⚡️

A big shout out to Goodline, Coates and Rio Tinto for kindly lending the club generators and helping us keep the season running while we’ve been without mains power. ❤️

📅 REMINDER: No racing Friday 21 August

If you’re going to miss the community spirit of BMX next Friday, our friends at the Weipa Gymnastics Club are looking for volunteers to help man the entry gate on Friday night. If you can lend a hand, flick them an email at [email protected]

We’ll see you all on Friday 28 August — hopefully with the humming of generators gone, the lights shining bright and the start gate ready to go! 🤞

🚲 Call for an army of rakers at Weipa BMX Track

The Weipa BMX Track loves to form rocks! 🪨 With only one person doing track prep each week, it’s tough to get them all cleared.

We’re calling for an army of rakers this afternoon! 💪

If you have any time to spare before 6pm, come down and help us get the track ready. There will be a committee member present from 4pm anyone is welcome to pick a spot and get racking any time.

👉 Bring a rake and a pair of gloves if you have them. 🧹🧤

Every extra set of hands makes a huge difference! 🙌

🏁 Help us keep the Weipa BMX track safe for everyone! 🏁

Our BMX track is maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers who give up their time so our community has a great place to ride and race.

Lately we've been spending too much time repairing damage and cleaning up broken glass, vapes and rubbish instead of preparing the track for race nights.

We kindly ask everyone to do their part:
🚫 No motorbikes, e-bikes, scooters or other motorised vehicles on the BMX track.
🗑️ Please take your rubbish home.
❤️ Treat the track with respect so everyone can continue to enjoy it.

A little consideration goes a long way. Thank you to everyone who helps keep our club and our track something the whole community can be proud of.

🏁 WEIPA BMX CLUB – OPEN GATES 🏁 📅 Sunday ⏰ Arrive from 3:00pm 🚦 Gates dropping from 4:00pm – 6:00pm

What to expect:
• Gates practice from 4pm–6pm
• Meet the committee
• BMX Gear Buy, Swap & Sell
• Catch up with other riders and families
• Have a ride in a relaxed, fun environment

Hot dogs on fresh hot dog rolls thanks to Weipa bakery!

🚨 All riders must hold a current AusCycling membership.
🎉 New riders can access a FREE 4-week trial membership through AusCycling.

🙋 Volunteers Needed! We are always looking for volunteers to help make our race nights possible. If you would like to help: ✔ Hold a current Blue Card or acceptable exemption ✔ Let a committee member know you'd like to volunteer!

Track prep is the focus so we advise to leave the kids at home if possible because the will be active machinery!

👟 Enclosed shoes and gloves a must.

🚲 Got old BMX gear? Bring it — donate or on-sell on the day!

🌭 Sausage sizzle and drinks on us thanks to our local butcher, bakery and Woolworths!
