🦁WELCOME TO THE LIONS, CHLOE LOVELL!🦁

We’re excited to welcome Chloe Lovell to South Rovers for the 2027 season!

Chloe started her netball journey in the junior ranks at Merrivale before moving to South Warrnambool and progressing into senior netball. Along the way, she has represented the WDFNL in Western Region squads and the Hampden League at the Association Championships.

Returning to Merrivale to play A Grade, Chloe faced an ACL injury that kept her off the court. Chloe worked her way back through A Reserve in 2025, helping secure a premiership before returning to A Grade in 2026 and being part of Merrivale’s premiership-winning side.

In Chloe’s words “I’m so excited to be a part of Rovers in 2027! I’m really looking forward to a meeting everyone and I am excited for the season ahead, to work hard, challenge myself and hopefully achieve some great things together as a team! Can’t wait to get started and see what 2027 brings! Bring on the season!”

A proven A Grade goal scorer, we’re thrilled to have Chloe’s talents joining the Lions and look forward to seeing her in Rovers colours in 2027! 🦁

🦁 WELCOME BACK, AVA BISHOP! 🦁

It’s great to have past junior Lion Ava Bishop back at the Den for 2027!

Ava comes back to the Lions after playing junior netball at South Rovers before going on to represent the Warrnambool Mermaids in Big V basketball and finish her juniors and play Open Netball with Warrnambool in the Hampden league. Even better, she’ll be back alongside her brothers Toby and Liam!

Ava also has coaching experience in the Hampden League, Her knowledge and experience will be a great addition to our netball program on and off the court!

In Ava’s words: “I started playing netball at South Rovers in 2015 and was lucky enough to be part of the Under 13s premiership-winning team in 2016.

In 2017, I moved to Warrnambool, where I finished my junior netball and went on to play across Open and Division 1.

I’m really looking forward to returning to South Rovers, being at the same club as my family, playing alongside some new faces and continuing to develop my game under the guidance of Jordyn.

🏆 RECOGNISING TWO WONDERFUL CLUB PEOPLE 🦁

This year, we were proud to recognise two incredible contributors to South Rovers FNC, with Nicole Downie named our 2026 Club Person of the Year and Emma Downie awarded Life Membership.

Nicole’s commitment to the sustainability, culture and day to day running of our club has been immense. From organising fundraising activities and helping in the kitchen to managing treasurer duties, Nicole is always willing to put her hand up and get things done.

Her contribution goes well beyond 2026, with years of dedicated service as part of our volunteer group. So much of what happens behind the scenes relies on people like Nicole, and we are incredibly grateful for everything she continues to give to our club.

Congratulations Nicole, and thank you for everything you do. 🦁

Emma’s award of Life Membership recognises a remarkable contribution to South Rovers, both on and off the netball court.

A one club player with more than 200 games to her name, Emma’s commitment extends well beyond playing. As Vice President and Netball Coordinator, she plays a significant role in the administration and organisation of our club, while also contributing as a game day officer, umpire organiser, delegate and so much more.

From grants, fundraising and sponsorship to Thursday night dinners, social functions, merchandise, rosters and countless hours helping wherever needed, Emma has consistently gone above and beyond. Her contribution is a reflection of the dedication, loyalty and community spirit that makes our club what it is.

Congratulations Emma on a thoroughly deserved honour and thank you for your outstanding service to the Lions.

Two wonderful club people who represent everything that makes South Rovers special. ❤️💙💛

🦁 2027 U18.5s COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT 🦁

We’re thrilled to announce Corey McLaren and Jaxen Dalton as co-coaches of our U18.5s for the 2027 season!

Following a premiership in 2026, the group will welcome plenty of new faces stepping up from the U16s as they continue their football journey and prepare for the transition into senior ranks.

Corey, who started coaching in our u12s. steps up from the U/15/16s to continue working with some familiar faces , while Jacko, one of our senior vice captains- returns to coaching, having previously coached some of these boys at U15 level back in 2023.

Having two great role models, both on and off the field, leading our U18.5s is an exciting prospect as we look to build on the success of 2026 and prepare the next generation for senior football.

Congratulations, boys. Go well in 2027! 🦁
