Only 2 keen shooters turned up to contest the Bob Watkins Trophy shoot at the 300-yard range on Sunday. After the recent heavy rainfall, the weather was perfect pleasant shooting weather.
Conditions were reasonably easy but where was enough movement now and again to catch out the unwary. The heavy clouds that moved through now and again made a difference to some with sighting on the target when the sun was out the white spotter was a lot easier to see.
Steve Hunt got off to a great start with a 49-3 in the 1st round but got the shakes in his 2nd round and could only manage a 47-3which put him out of contention. The handicap with the contest is no rear bag was allowed but both shot some great scores. Steve Waters won the day to finish the day and win the Trophy with a great score of 50-7.
Next week we contest the 300-yard range again and I'm hoping for similar conditions.
