⚾️ MEET THE UMPIRE: HARRISON BACKHOUSE ⚾️

Usually familiar as a pitcher on the mound, Harrison has taken his place on the other side of the game as an umpire.

Harrison started umpiring 3 years ago, beginning with T-ball games and field umpiring in Rookie Live. He's building his experience and loving every minute of being part of the game from a different perspective.

🎤 What do you love about umpiring?
"Anytime I get to be on the diamond I'm in my happy place ... oh and it pays well!" 😂💰⚾️

🏆 Best umpiring game to date:
A semi-final game featuring a very tight contest and a walk-off win by the Angels. With some difficult calls to make, it was a challenging but memorable game for Harrison.

From playing the game to helping make sure it runs smoothly, Harrison is one of the young umpires helping keep baseball going in our community. 🙌

This weekend, we recognise and thank the people who make our game possible, our umpires.

Every game, every inning, and every call requires someone willing to step onto the diamond, make the tough decisions, and help create a fair and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Our umpires give their time, knowledge, and passion to support baseball in our community. They don't just call balls and strikes. They help teach the game, support player development, and ensure that every player has the opportunity to compete.

To all our RHBL umpires, thank you for your commitment, professionalism, and love of the game.

⚾ Greenway Minor Wedgetail Red 10 defeated Kissing Point Minor Wedgetail 5 ⚾

What a beautiful day to kick off the 2026/27 Minors Season, with the Angels taking on Greenway at Field of Dreams, South Turramurra!

It took both teams a little while to settle into the new rules, but once they did, we saw some great baseball from both sides. Most importantly, the game was played in great spirits, with plenty of fun, teamwork and enthusiasm on display. 👏

Greenway were too good on the day, but the Angels can be proud of their efforts. It was fantastic to see all the kids out there enjoying their baseball, and there are plenty of positive signs for the season ahead! ⚾

A big thank you to our players, coaches, families and supporters for making it such a great start to the season.

Tomorrow, the waiting ends.

New teams. New friendships. New challenges. New memories.

For some, it's their first game in a baseball uniform. For others, it's another chapter in a journey they've been on for years.

Tonight it's all about making sure the belt, socks, cleats and glove are packed.

Tomorrow, it's time to play ball.

Good luck to every player, coach, umpire, volunteer and family as we kick off another season of Ryde Hawks baseball.

The ones who throw BP after work. The ones who coach teams on weekends. The ones who never miss a game if they can help it. The ones who spend countless hours having a catch in the backyard.

Thank you for every ride, every rep, every word of encouragement and every memory you've helped create.

Behind every registration, every team announcement, every uniform handed out and every first pitch of the season is a group of volunteers making it happen.

As we ramp up towards the new season, our clubs are working overtime to welcome new and returning players to the Ryde Hawks family.

Their dedication helps create opportunities for hundreds of kids to learn, play, compete and make lifelong memories through baseball.

👏 Thank you to every one of our committee members for the time, energy and heart you put into your club.

You are the reason our community continues to grow.
