📣 SENIOR COACH ANNOUNCEMENT | MATT HAY

We are proud to announce Matt Hay as our Senior Coach for 2027, leading our return to senior football.

Matt is an outstanding candidate to take our club forward. He embodies leadership and culture, underpinned by an exceptional football brain and a genuine passion for player development.

Having been involved at the club for over a decade, Matt was one of our inaugural premiership coaches in the youth space. He is already loved and respected by many at the Storm for his passion for football and his commitment to developing our players.

Following the premiership success of our Under 17½ team this season, it’s an exciting time for our club and our pathway from junior through to senior football. Seeing our youth age groups producing senior footballers, some having worn the Storm colours since they were five years old, is a proud achievement and makes our return particularly special.

Please join us in congratulating Matt on his appointment. The entire club is firmly behind him as we prepare to compete in the 2027 season and build the next chapter of senior football at the Storm.

One more game.

After an outstanding 2026 season, our U17 Boys Division 4 have earned their place on the biggest stage of all — the GRAND FINAL! 💜🩵

From finishing the home-and-away season on top of the ladder, to standing tall when finals footy arrived, this group has given themselves the opportunity every team works towards.

Now, it all comes down to this.

💜🩵 WOODCREST AFL EXCELLENCE – OLDER AGE GROUP TRIALS 🩵💜

Another fantastic opportunity for our Storm players! 🏉

Following on from the recent Year 7 opportunities, Woodcrest State College is now opening AFL Excellence Program trials for the older age groups.

We’re incredibly proud of the growing relationship between Greater Springfield Storm and the Woodcrest AFL Excellence Program, particularly with so many of our players already representing both the purple and blue of Storm and the green, gold and black of Woodcrest.

The AFL Excellence Program provides players with another environment to develop their football, challenge themselves and continue building their skills alongside their club football.

If you have a young footballer who is passionate about their footy and interested in finding out what the Woodcrest AFL Excellence Program can offer, we strongly encourage you to check out the details in the shared post and register for the upcoming trials.

📢 And remember – don't assume you're ineligible because you live outside the Woodcrest catchment. The AFL Excellence Program has opportunities for out-of-catchment enrolments through its Excellence pathway.

🏆⚡ SEQJ YOUTH AWARDS | STORM SHINES IN 2026 ⚡🏆

What a fantastic night for Greater Springfield Storm at the 2026 SEQJ Youth Awards, with several of our young footballers recognised amongst the very best in their respective competitions.

A huge congratulations to:
🥇 Diamy Jalloh — U15 Girls Division 4 Best & Fairest
An outstanding season from Diamy, finishing on 15 votes to take out the Division 4 league Best & Fairest!

🥈 Sienna Shand — U15 Girls Division 4 Runner-Up
Making it an incredible Storm 1–2, Sienna finished just two votes behind on 13 votes. What an achievement from both girls! 💜🩵

🥇 Lucas Creek — U17 Boys Division 4 Best & Fairest
Lucas capped off a brilliant home-and-away season by taking out the league Best & Fairest with 15 votes.

🥈 Ryan Brown — U17 Boys Division 4 Runner-Up
And another Storm 1–2! Ryan finished runner-up with 13 votes, an incredible result for our U17 program. ⚡

🥈 Tyler Rowler — U15 Boys Division 4 Brisbane South Runner-Up
Tyler finished equal second on 11 votes, just two votes behind the winner, after a fantastic season with our U15 Boys.

To have five Storm players finish in the top two of their respective league awards, including two Best & Fairest winners, is an achievement everyone at our club can be enormously proud of.

While these are individual awards, they're also a reflection of the teammates, coaches, volunteers and families around these players every week. Great football is rarely achieved alone.

Diamy, Sienna, Lucas, Ryan and Tyler — congratulations from everyone at Greater Springfield Storm. You've done yourselves, your teams and our club proud. ⚡💜🩵

And with our U17 Boys securing a place in this weekend's Grand Final, there's hopefully a little more to come from an already outstanding season at the Storm! 👀🏆

After outstanding home-and-away seasons saw both teams finish inside the Top 2, our U15 Girls and U17 Boys earned themselves a week off in the opening round of finals.

⚡ YOUTH FINALS | ROUND ONE RESULTS ⚡

A big weekend of football for the Storm, with our U13 Mixed Div 5 and U15 Boys Div 4 taking to the field for their first taste of finals footy in 2026.

Unfortunately a heart breaking result to both teams, bringing their seasons to an end however the Storm could not be prouder of both teams.

💜 U13 MIXED DIV 5

Congratulations on a season to be proud of. This group continued to grow throughout the year, earned their opportunity to experience finals football and represented the Storm with pride every step of the way.

Finals didn't go the way we hoped, but one result doesn't define the journey these players have been on. We can't wait to see them continue to develop in the years ahead.

🩵 U15 BOYS DIV 4

What a battle. After finishing the home-and-away season in 3rd, the boys left absolutely everything on the field in their Elimination Final against Morningside, with just three points separating the teams at the final siren.

It's a tough way to finish a fantastic season, but this group should hold their heads incredibly high. The growth, mateship and football they've shown throughout 2026 has been something the club is extremely proud of.

⚡ AND TO ALL OF OUR JUNIORS...

This weekend also marked the end of the 2026 season for our Junior footballers.

From our youngest players learning the game through to those preparing to make the step into Youth football, we couldn't be prouder of what we've seen across our Junior program this year.

Our juniors are about learning the game, developing skills, making friends, building confidence and, most importantly, loving your footy and we feel absolutely honoured you chose to do that with us and can not wait for what's in store for next year.

To every player who pulled on the Storm jumper this season — congratulations on a fantastic year. We hope you've made some great memories along the way and we can't wait to see you back in purple, teal and white in 2027. 💜🩵

And to all of the coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, volunteers and families across both our Junior and Youth programs — thank you.

Junior football simply doesn't happen without people willing to give their time each week to create these opportunities for our kids.

For many of our Storm teams, that's a wrap on 2026.

Be proud of your season, enjoy the break and we'll see you again in 2027. ⚡

⚡ 2026 YOUTH SEASON WRAP ⚡

What a season it has been for our Storm Youth teams! 💜🩵

Across our five Youth teams, we've watched our players grow, compete, support their teammates and represent Greater Springfield with pride every time they've pulled on the Storm jumper.

Now, four of our teams are FINALS BOUND! ⚡
🥇 U17 Boys Div 4 — 1st in Division
🥈 U15 Girls Div 4 — 2nd in Division
🥉 U15 Boys Div 4 — 3rd in Division
⚡ U13 Mixed Div 5 — 6th in Division

A massive congratulations to every player, coach, team manager, volunteer and family involved. The job isn't finished yet — we can't wait to get behind these four teams as they take on finals football! 💪

We also want to give a special shout-out to our U13 Mixed Div 2 side, whose 2026 season has now come to an official end (although we are sure you will still find them supporting the rest of the club during finals 😉)

Playing Division 2 football is no small achievement. This group took on some of the strongest opposition in the competition, continued to challenge themselves week after week and showed plenty of resilience along the way. The ladder doesn't tell the whole story of a season, and the club couldn't be prouder of this group's achievements.

Hold your heads high, boys. You've represented your team, your families and the Storm with pride, and we're excited to see where this experience takes you next. ⚡
