🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICE – BREAK-IN AT TEVIOT DOWNS SOCCER CLUB 🚨
Unfortunately, Teviot Downs Soccer Club was broken into overnight.
Our club alarm was triggered at approximately 2:45am, and Queensland Police attended the scene. Police and forensic officers have since completed an investigation, with fingerprints and other identifying evidence collected.
While we will leave the investigation to the experts, it is disappointing to see significant damage caused for what appears to have been very little gain. The items taken were of minimal value, and as many people know, the club does not keep cash on site. Anyone thinking there is money or valuable stock to be found is simply wasting their time.
To those responsible, please remember that community facilities are built and maintained by volunteers. This club is home to more than 500 local families and countless volunteers who dedicate their time to creating opportunities for children, young people and adults to play sport, connect with others, and be part of something positive.
We ask local parents and guardians to have conversations with their children about where they were overnight and the consequences of this type of behaviour. What may seem like harmless fun can result in significant damage, costs and disruption for the entire community.
We would also like to thank the local residents who have already reached out with CCTV footage and information. In today's world, cameras are everywhere, and information is continuing to be gathered. While some people may think they can come and go unnoticed, that is rarely the case.
If you live near the club and have CCTV footage from overnight, or if your cameras captured anyone travelling to or from the soccer grounds during the early hours of the morning, please contact us.
As an additional precaution, if local residents ever notice suspicious activity around the club or hear the alarm sounding, please feel free to contact me via the details available on our page or club website. We have a number of committee members and club families who live nearby and can often respond quickly to assist where appropriate.
This club belongs to our community. Protecting it is a shared responsibility, and we thank everyone who continues to look out for it.
And to those who may simply be looking for something to do — we'd much rather see you involved at the club than damaging it. Whether it's helping out on game day, volunteering around the grounds, or getting involved in community sport, there are plenty of positive ways to spend your time and contribute to something that benefits others.
