AQUALICIOUS BRISBANE — WHAT’S NEXT?

Centenary Aquatic Centre may have closed, but Aqualicious Brisbane hasn’t! 💙

The closure marks the end of an era for us. Centenary has been more than just a pool — it’s where we’ve built friendships, found our people, challenged ourselves and created some pretty fabulous memories along the way. 🥹🏊‍♂️🌈

For now, our regular Brisbane Aqualicious squad sessions are paused while we work out what comes next. We’re taking this opportunity to look at what 2027 and beyond could look like for Aqualicious Brisbane.

That means exploring new pool options, potential partnerships and even a member-led coaching model, inspired by what’s already working so well on the Sunshine Coast.

💙 So, what can you do?

Keep swimming with us!
The Newmarket Pool Adult Squad is a great option in the meantime where other members are planning on attending:

Get involved in the Aqualicious community.

Coach Foz really woke up and chose chaos for this squad session. 😂🪙

He whipped up a doozy of a set where each lane had to toss a coin and let fate decide which part of the set they were doing. Heads, tails… or apparently, just suffer. 💀🏊‍♂️

Safe to say, the odds were not in everyone’s favour — but on a chilly Winter Wednesday, there were plenty of laughs, questionable decisions and good vibes in the pool.

Just another day at Aqualicious, where we take our swimming seriously… but never ourselves. 🌈💦

Goodbye Centenary Pool 1.
Sunday was a special day for our club with the final squad for the Brisbane Crew at Centenary Aquatic Centre as it closes ready for the Olympic rebuild. Coach Dylan retook to the pool deck for an hour of fun, laps and nostalgia. So good to see so many swimmers of the past and present join in with the commemorations.

Adam showing us how it’s done with the good ol’ cup backstroke drill! 🥤🏊‍♂️

The challenge? Keep a half-full cup perfectly balanced on your forehead while swimming backstroke. It’s a simple little drill that helps improve head position, body alignment and keeping that lovely streamlined position in the water.

And Adam and the whole squad absolutely nailed it — not a drop spilled!

Our Aqualicious Final Swim at Centenary Aquatic Centre is almost here — Sunday, August 30 from 8am!

And we’re going out in true Aqualicious style. 💅🏽

🏊‍♂️ Laps with a little frolic
🎲 Swimming games & relays
👙 Come dressed to impress — swimsuit embellishments encouraged!
🤝 Tug-of-war & creative pool noodle compositions
📸 Plenty of photo ops
☕️ Morning tea afterwards — bring a plate or grab a coffee

And, of course, the ceremonial taking down of the big Aqualicious banner as we say goodbye to our Centenary home. 🥹🌈

Past and present Aqualicians are all welcome. Come for the swim, stay for the memories, silliness and final farewell. 💦
