๐Ÿ† Building Stronger, More Inclusive Sporting Clubs in Moira Shire

On Monday night, our team was pleased to deliver a Respect In Sport Standard (RISS) workshop in Cobram on behalf of Moira Shire Council.

It was fantastic to see representatives from seven local clubs come together to explore how we can create more welcoming, inclusive and equitable sporting environments for everyone in our communities.

The session sparked great discussion around Fair Access, inclusion and the important role clubs play in ensuring all participants feel valued, respected and supported. Attendees shared experiences, identified challenges and developed practical actions they can take back to their clubs to help drive positive change.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation. Your commitment to strengthening community sport is helping create more inclusive opportunities across Moira Shire.

๐Ÿ‘ Shout out to:
Cobram Roar FC, Tungamah Football Netball Club, Cobram Bowling Club, Cobram Croquet Club Inc, Strathmerton Football Netball Club, Yarrawonga Mulwala Little Athletics Centre and Katunga Football Netball Club

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Weโ€™re back with Part 3 of our 6-Part Junior Sport Series!

This week on From the Mountains to the Murray, we sit down once again with registered sports psychologist Joel Curtis from Endeavour Wellness to explore one of the biggest factors in a young athleteโ€™s sporting journey - confidence.

Is confidence something kids are born with, or is it shaped by the environment around them?

From coaches and parents to teammates, social media and performance expectations, we unpack the many influences that impact how young athletes see themselves both on and off the field.

Joel shares practical insights into how confidence is built, why resilience matters just as much as talent, and how adults involved in local sport can help create environments where kids feel supported to learn, grow and enjoy the game.

Whether you're a parent, coach, volunteer or young athlete, this episode is packed with valuable takeaways to help foster healthy self-belief and positive lifelong connections to sport.

Today marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week - a time to reflect, learn and take action towards a more reconciled Australia.

This yearโ€™s theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation is not a spectator sport. It calls on all of us to step away from the sidelines and play our part in creating meaningful change.

At Valley Sport, weโ€™re proud to have recently launched our inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) - outlining our commitment to building stronger relationships, respect and opportunities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

We invite our community to join us in continuing to learn, listen and move forward together.

Today, on National Sorry Day, we pause to acknowledge and remember the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities and Country - and the Stolen Generations survivors, families and communities who continue to carry the impacts today.

National Sorry Day is a time to reflect on our shared history, listen to truth, and recognise that reconciliation requires more than words.

This yearโ€™s theme, From Sorry to Action, reminds us that acknowledging the past must be matched with meaningful action, accountability and ongoing commitment.

At Valley Sport, we recognise the important role sport and community can play in creating spaces of connection, inclusion, respect and belonging for all.

Today, we encourage our community to take time to learn, reflect and continue conversations that contribute to understanding and reconciliation.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ New Episode - From a Handful of Players to 200+ Members

This week on From the Mountains to the Murray, we head to the courts with the team from Shepp Feathers Badminton Club to unpack one of regional sportโ€™s great growth stories ๐Ÿธ

What started with just a handful of passionate players has grown into a thriving community club of more than 200 members - creating connections, opportunities, and a welcoming environment for people of all ages and backgrounds.

In this episode, we explore how the club first began, the challenges and wins along the way, and the key ingredients behind their incredible growth.

Itโ€™s a great conversation about the power of community sport, building belonging, and why creating an inclusive and welcoming culture can make all the difference.
