🏓 2026 Country Carnival results 🏓

The RTTA had a huge haul of trophies at this years country carnival in Murray Bridge over the long weekend. With 15 members attending the 2 day event the Riverland was well represented and came away with winning 15 out of the 40 individual events and runner up in 10 of them. A great effort.

Details of event winners are captioned on the photos.

It was also great to see so many of our newer players attend the carnival and even better to see how well they did. Well done to you all.

The RTTA would like to thank the Murray Bridge and District Table Tennis Association and all of the volunteers for putting on and running another great tournament. It’s a huge effort to keep the weekend running smoothly with over 700 matches played and they did a great job!
*Special mention to the canteen helpers and the scones, they were delicious! 😃

In Renmark Table Tennis round 7 action Honey Badgers scored their third win in a row beating President’s Club and Spin Masters had a strong win over Top 9.
In the first match Honey Badgers scored a close win over top of the table, President’s Club, 14-12. Honey Badgers have turned around their early season form. After losing the first three matches of the season they have now strung three wins in a row. This week’s win was the second close defeat in a row for President’s Club who now need to bounce back after starting the season with four wins. The rubber of the match saw two of the Club’s must experienced and successful players, Dennis Robinson (President’s Club) and Barry Williams (Honey Badgers) play out the deciding match. Barry started strongly, winning the first two games, but Dennis fought back strongly to win the third game 11-2. This form continued early in the fourth game holding a strong grip on the game. Barry then took advantage of a rare lack of concentration by Dennis to win the next 6 points to secure the rubber 11-4, 11-8, 2-11 12-10.

In the second match Spin Masters had a big win over Top 9, 16-10, moving them off the bottom of the ladder. Spin Masters took an early lead in the doubles rubbers and then sealed the game, winning six of the nine deciding singles. In the rubber of the night Peter Rogers had a big game against Nigel Stoeckel. After being defeated earlier by his son, Joel Stoeckel, Nigel was out to find his early season form. Peter started the rubber well, winning the first two games, but Nigel fought back hard to win the next two. In his best game of the season Peter won the last game easily, winning 11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 9-11, 11-2

Round 6 Report
In Remark Table Tennis, Round 6 saw President’s Club drop their first match to Top 9 and Honey Badgers score their first win for the season against Flat Hitters.

In the first match, second placed Top 9 inflicted President’s Club their first defeat, winning 14-12. The match was even all the way through. Top 9 took a small lead after the Doubles. President’s Club evened it up in the deciding singles. In the end the match cdame down to the upset win of fill in, Mason Karpany, over Lucas Drawley-McIroy. Lucas has started the season well, but could not overcome Mason’s consistent and awkward playing style. Lucas did fight back in his final singles, beating Toby Munn in a rubber that took 5 games to find a winner, but it wasn’t enough with Top 9 eventually taking the win.

In the second match Honey Badgers found some winning form beating Flat Hitters 16-10. The difference in the match was almost played out in the opening rubbers with Honey Badgers winning all five of the doubles rubbers. Nate Dyer (Honey Badgers) and Jon Van der Hoek (Flat Hitters) played out the rubber of the night and potentially the season. It lasted 5 games wiuth all of them having the smallest of margins, two points. Jon won the first two games with tie breakers but Nate fought back to win the next two 11-9. The fifth game saw Jon hold off Nate at the end to win the rubber 13-11, 14-12, 9-11, 9-11, 11-9.

Renmark Table Tennis round 5 Results
In Renmark Table Tennis round 5, the Flat Hitters had a strong win over the Spin Masters and Honey Badgers scored their first win for the season with a close win over Top 9.

The first match, Flat Hitters beat Spin Masters, 17-9. Spin Masters started strongly with an early lead in the doubles rubbers, but could not maintain the lead through the singles. Flat Hitters dominated the deciding singles dropping only two of the eleven deciding rubbers. Geoff Haby (Flat Hitters) had another good night beating David Badger in five games and then in the match of the round beating Paul Haenen (Spin Masters) in a marathon rubber. Geoff won the first two games in close ones and then Paul fought back to win the next two. The last game came down to tie breakers, with both players squandering match winning points. In the end Geoff won the last 15-13 to secure the rubber for Flat Hitters.

In the second match Honey Badgers achieved their first win for the season, beating Top 9, 15-11. In a close match the extra doubles and deciding single wins proved to be the difference between the two sides. Daniel Vincent (Top 9) played out a big rubber against Lincoln Harris (Honey Badgers). The two young players exchanged wins for the first four games, taking the rubber deep into the fifth. After winning the fourth game in a tie breaker, Lincoln could not repeat the feat going down in the fifth, to Daniel 10-12.

Next weeks games see the undefeated Presidents Club take on top 9 and Honey Badgers will look for their second win taking on Flat Hitters

Renmark Table Tennis Round 4 Report
Renmark Table Tennis Round 4, saw Spin Masters score their first win over Honey Badgers and President’s Club continue their strong start to the season beating Flat Hitters.
In the first match, Spin Masters won a relatively close one against Honey Badgers 15-11. While Honey Badgers took the early lead in the doubles, Spin Masters fought back winning six of the nine deciding singles to score their first win for the season. Honey Badgers remain winless in the 2026 season but hopefully with some potential early season team restructuring they can turn their fortunes around. The match of the night was played out between Chris Gaskin (Spin Masters) and Paul Farr (Honey Badgers). After starting the season strongly, with four straight wins, Chris dropped both his singles last round and came out on a mission this week. Chris won the first two games, relatively easily but the experienced Paul Farr fought back to win the next two in tie breakers. The marathon game went deep in the fifth and needed a tie breaker to find a winner. Chris Gaskin eventually won 11-8, 11-8, 11-13. 14-12, 13-11in the longest rubber of the season.

In the second match President’s Club continued their winning streak with a strong win over Flat Hitters, 16-10. Led by their captain, Dennis Robinson, who remains undefeated in the singles and only dropped one double rubber with partner Jemima Livingston-Bornholm, President’s Club remain the inform team of the competition. In a match that required many five game rubbers to decide the final winner three stood out. Flat Hitters, Maddi McGregor and Geoff Haby did an amazing job to fight back from 2 games down, to win the next three games and win their respective rubbers over Paul Haenen and Scott Bornholm. Scott’s night didn’t get any better also going down in five to Michael Rose.
Next week sees Spin Masters take on Flat Hitters and Honey Badgers will look for their first win over Top 9.

Renmark Table Tennis Round 3
Renmark Table Tennis round 3 saw Top 9 win their second win in a row defeating Flat Hitters and President’s Club continue their strong season with a good win over Spin Masters.

In the first match Top 9 benefited from some late team changes to defeat Flat Hitters 20 -6. This was the first defeat for Flat Hitters who found it hard to match up to the team changes, that saw Top 9 completely change their bottom two, who previously have won only one rubber between them. Flat Hitters also had their changes with Captain Frank Sullivan and Amber Burgess out, needing late replacements. The best rubber of the match was played between Barry Schier (Top 9) and Jon Van der Hoek (Flat Hitters). Both players have returned this season to Renmark Table Tennis and are reaping the rewards of consistent training with head coach Dennis Robinson. A rubber of high quality was played out over 5 games with Jon Van der Hoek eventually winning 12-10, 11-13, 8-11, 13-11, 11-8

The second match saw top of the ladder, President’s Club play bottom of the ladder, Spin Masters and winning comfortably 18-8. While the doubles were relatively close President’s Club dominated the singles only dropping three of the nine deciding singles and causing two upsets in the other rubbers. The rubber of the match was a short 3 gamer between Dennis Robinson (President’s Club) and Peter Rogers (Flat Hitters). Peter fought out an amazing rubber, taking Dennis to more tie breaker every rubber. In a game of millimetres Dennis needed 12 tie breakers in 3 games to eventually beat Peter, 10-12,12-14, 14-16.

Next week Flat Hitters take on the undefeated President’s Club and Honey Badgers and Spin Masters will both look for their first win of the season.
