Grand Final Report
In Renmark Table Tennis, Top 9 were far too strong for President’s Club, with a resounding 17-9 win to take the RTTA 2026 Paul Hutchins Loan Centre Premiership Cup.
Led by captain Nigel Stoeckel, Top 9 never looked like losing the 2026 RTTA premiership. Their dominance starting from the outset, winning four of the five doubles in a show of resilience, with three of the wins going down to the last points of the fifth game. From there President’s Club were needing extra wins and these were provided with Coden Smith stealing a rubber off higher ranked Daniel Vincent. But this was quickly countered with Catherine Livingston continuing her table tennis growth with a win over young Lucas Drawley-McIroy.
Through the middle most games were going to expected ranking but at the top Byron Livingston-Bornholm left his best game of the season beating highly ranked Dennis Robinson in straight sets. Going into the deciding singles President’s Club needed to dominate and win at least six of the remaining nine rubbers. Top 9 wre not going to let it go from here and continued the consistency they have shown over the last 5 weeks. In the deciding singles, Catherine had another win along with wins to Top 9’s Toby Munn, Daniel Vincent, Rod Stoeckel and Byron Livingston-Bornholm the premiership was sealed, leaving the last match of the night against Nigel Stoeckel and Dennis Robinson, just about pride.
Nigel took the early advantage as Dennis’ slow starts continue to have him start from behind. Like the true competitor he is, Dennis fought back to win the next two 11-8, 13-11. Nigel won the fourth in a tie breaker, to take the last game of the season into the fifth game. Nigel got the early break in the fifth and while Dennis fought back, he could not clinch the last rubber of the season with Nigel winning 11-2 , 8-11, 11-13, 12-10, 11-7

Grand Final Team Review - President’s Club
After starting strongly, President’s Club has struggled in the second half of the season due to some mid-season team restructuring. The win last week was important and the return to form of captain Dennis Robinson along with outstanding efforts form Sonia, Paul and Coden who secured extra rubbers to clinch the win.
How they line up
1 Dennis Started strongly winning first 15 wins. Always hard to beat in the big matches
2 Paul H Consistent, having won all games against the number 3s and can force top players to find an extra gear.
3 Jemima Young star with a killer backhand that on her day can beat anyone. Doubles rubber with Dennis will be important.
4 Sonia Worked hard all season on her table tennis and the benefits have really started to show giving her confidence, with her consistent style
5 Scott Also worked hard all season to improve and has moved up 3 ranking points to reflect5 his improvement
6 Colin Plays a smart game, staying well within his own game style. Also raised 2 ranking points this season
7 Coden Young player, with exceptional skill who, when plays a controlled game is very hard to beat.
8 Lucas One of the youngest club members, who is always aiming to improve and is developing a great range of strokes to support his enthusiasm.
9 Brayden Another young player who is embracing his game and when he remains focused can be hard to beat.

Grand Final Teams Review - Top 9
Consistent throughout the year and have been the inform team moving through the finals. Having comfortably beaten President’s Club in the Qualifying Final they will be hard to beat in the Grand Final. Nigel Stoeckel will look to lead his team and will look for the doubles rubbers and their bottom 4 players to again give them a sufficient lead to win the night.

1 Nigel One of our most technically correct players who is always hard to beat. Will enjoy the challenge late in the night against Dennis
2 Byron One of our most improved players over the last few years Byron has shown this season he can beat anyone, with maturity that far outweighs his table tennis experience.
3 Barry S Returned to the club this year and as the season has progressed continued to improve, raising his winning percentage 14% over the season.
4 Pras Improved immensely due to the physical and mental time he puts into his game. This effort makes him always hard to beat.
5 Rod One of our most experienced players in the club, his slice game and over 50 years of playing the game will make him even harder to beat with the pressures of the Grand Final.
6 Daniel Always enjoys the game and this shows in the time and effort he puts into the game. This season he has gone up 2 rankings points.
7 Edward Edward brings enthusiasm to the game with his own style of play, which makes him awkward to play and saw him raise 5 ranking points this season.
8 Toby Another young player who has put a lot of time into his table tennis this year. Come up from our junior ranks and looks a promising player moving forward.
9 Catherine Following the family, a late entry into the Top 9 team, she plays a consistent game that means she is not beaten easily and will challenge the younger players she meets on Wednesday night.

Murray Neighbors Challenge 2026 Summary and Results

On Saturday the 22nd August the Renmark Table Tennis Association hosted the Annual Murray Neighbors Challenge in Renmark. The Sunraysia Table Tennis Association travelled across from Mildura with 22 players plus their supporters to battle it out for the perpetual trophy and 12 months of bragging rights. In What was a huge day of quality table tennis with a total of 84 matches being played it was Sunraysia who came out on top, winning 45 matches to Renmark’s 39. Final scores were Sunraysia 45 Rubbers, 160 games, 2901 points to Renmark 39 Rubbers, 158 games, 2918 points. The matches were a combination of doubles and singles with a great show of sportsmanship and healthy competition from both teams.



Club President, Dennis Robinson, lead the charge for Renmark, winning all 3 of his singles matches on table 1. Robinson defeated Wayne Carmichael, Kate Carmichael and Jackson Tung from Sunraysia, with all 3 of them being higher ranked players. Frank Sulllivan won the only other match for Renmark on table 1, defeating Jackson Tung 13-11 in the 5th with Renmark going down 4-8. On table 2 it was Joel Stoeckel who stood out for Renmark, first teaming up with Byron Livingston-Bornholm in the doubles to Defeat Paul Kealley and Jamie Kealley in their doubles match. Stoeckel then went on to defeat both Paul Kealley and Rohan Reimers in his singles matches, picking up the only 2 singles wins for Renmark on table 2. Jamie Kealley for Sunraysia was too good for Renmark and won all 3 of his singles. On table 3 Geoff Haby and Jackson Rogers each picked up 1 singles match win with their table going down 3-9. Liam Wood was the standout for Sunraysia winning all 3 of his matches and proving to be too strong on the day.



Jemima Livingston-Bornholm continued her good form this season and had 2 wins on table 4. Livingston-Bornholm defeated Deegan Kerslake and Quinton Clark in 3 straight in her singles matches. For Sunraysia, Josh Arnold was playing well, defeating Rogers and winning all 3 of his singles matches. In a close battle on table 5 it was Allan Hughes leading the way for Renmark, picking up 2 singles wins against Hayden Wilson and Kym Sykes. Hughes had a marathon 5 setter, coming away with the win 12-10 in the 5th and won his doubles with Sonia Adamczyk with Renmark narrowly going down 5-7 overall. On table 6 Renmark were too strong for Sunraysia with Scott Bornholm, Mason Karpany and Pras Chowta all picking up 2 singles wins each. Darren Bottams from Sunraysia was all that stopped Remark from a clean sweep on table 6, with Bottams winning all 3 of his singles matches as Renmark got up 9-3. On Table 7 it was all Renmark with Maddie McGregor, Chris Gaskin, Simon Adamczyk and Noah Johnson winning all their matches to win the table 12-0. Nathan Beard from Sunraysia had a great match with Adamczyk, narrowly going down 12-10 in the 5th.

First Week of Finals Report
In Renmark Table Tennis first week of finals, Top 9 beat President’s Club, securing a spot in the 2026 RTTA Grand Final and Spin Masters eliminated Honey Badgers to meet President’s Club in the Preliminary Final next week.
In the Qualifying Final Top 9 were too consistent, beating President’s Club 15-11. Top 9 took an early lead after the doubles. Most of the middle singles rubbers went to seating, but Top 9 extended their lead in the deciding doubles, winning 6-3, which combined with the doubles, gave them the final margin of four rubbers. Top 9 won some crucial rubbers, with Catherine Livingston fighting back to win her rubber from two games down and Rod Stoeckel showing his experience to win a close one in the fifth. For President’s Club they will meet Spin Masters next week in the Preliminary Final to decide who will meet Top 9 in the Grand Final.

In the Elimination Final, Spin Masters continue their end of season surge beating Honey Badgers 15-11. The scoreline was very similar to the Qualifying Final with Spin Masters taking a small lead after the doubles and extending it with three more wins, that Honey Badgers, in the deciding singles. With ten of the 26 rubbers going to five games the night was a lot closer than the final scoreline. Big wins by Daved Badger over Graeme Dyer and Chris Gaskin over Paul Farr were important wins for Spin Masters.

Next week’s Preliminary Final will be a test of nerves for both President’s Club and Spin Masters, with a spot in the grand final for the winner. President’s Club have lost six of their last seven matches, including round 13’s loss to Spin Masters. For Spin Masters they will be looking to again take the early lead in the doubles and with the support of their lower ranked players push home the advantage.
