Yabbies out and about, make sure you follow the rules to keep healthy number of yabbies around 👌💪
South Aussie Yabby Rules update from fisheries:
Yabby fishing rules reminder
Yabby season has begun and we want to remind you of the fishing rules and restrictions.
For the first time in SA, fishers can use pyramid nets, as well as continuing to use yabby pots to catch yabbies.
Yabby fishing equipment doesn’t need to be registered but it must be tagged and buoyed correctly, and marked with the fisher’s name and address when left unattended.
The personal bag limit for yabbies is 200 per day, and a daily boat limit of 600 applies when three or more people are fishing. There are no size limits for yabbies.
It’s illegal to take female yabbies carrying eggs. These must be immediately returned to the water.
Following the rules leads to a sustainable fishery for everyone, meaning you can continue doing the activities you enjoy.
