Everyone’s talking about AI.

Very few are talking about how to use it responsibly in an NDIS business.

AI can save hours every week. I use it to help with brainstorming, drafting, planning, training and improving communication.

But here’s what it should never replace…

Professional judgement.

Clinical reasoning.

Leadership.

Compliance.

And it should never be used with identifiable participant information.

As NDIS providers, we’re still responsible for meeting our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988, the Australian Privacy Principles, the NDIS Practice Standards and the NDIS Code of Conduct.

AI is a powerful assistant.

It isn’t your compliance officer.

The providers who will thrive over the next few years won’t be the ones using AI the most.

They’ll be the ones using it wisely, with strong governance, clear policies and human oversight.

If you’re already using AI in your organisation, ask yourself:

Do we have an AI governance framework?

If the answer is no…

People often assume coaching is about fixing something that’s broken.

I don’t see it that way.

I work with women who already have the business.
The clients.
The experience.

Eight years ago, SpiritAbility began with a simple vision… to create a service where people genuinely felt valued, empowered and supported.

Looking back, I never could have imagined what it would become.

One of the best decisions I ever made was handing the reins to Daniel as CEO. Together with Pamela, they have led SpiritAbility with incredible passion, integrity and determination, growing it into the organisation it is today. Watching them lead with such heart has been one of my greatest joys and proudest moments.

Today is also an extra special milestone because Pamela our wonderful MD celebrates 7 years with SpiritAbility. Seven years of loyalty, compassion, leadership and unwavering commitment. You have been instrumental in shaping our culture and the lives of so many participants, families and staff. Thank you for everything you continue to do. I am forever grateful for you 🫶 The best decision I ever made for SpiritAbility.

To Daniel, Pamela, Sandra, Chevie, Kristy, Lyndal, Katie, Dave, Jason and Tegan… thank you. Every one of you past and present that has played a part in this journey. Your commitment, kindness and dedication have helped build something truly special.

Some people will spend all weekend trying to escape the business they worked so hard to build.

That isn’t freedom.

That’s exhaustion wearing a success costume.

Every Friday, I ask myself one question…

“Did I spend this week building a business that depends on me… or one that can grow without me?”

Because they’re two very different things.

If every decision still lands on your desk…
If your team can’t move without you…
If you can’t take a day off without checking your phone every hour…

You’re not leading a business.

You’re carrying one.

Real growth isn’t about adding more clients, more staff or more hours.

It’s about creating systems, building capable people, making confident decisions and stepping into the role of CEO instead of chief firefighter.

So before you close the laptop today, take five minutes.

Ask yourself:

✨ What did I do this week that moved me closer to working on my business instead of in it?

If the answer is “not much”…

That’s not something to feel guilty about.

It’s simply your focus for next week.

Have a brilliant weekend. Rest well.

Your business will always need your leadership.

It doesn’t always need your presence.

Maybe I’m not Type A, B or C…

Maybe I’m just human.

I’ve spent years trying to work myself out.

How can I be someone who loves being around people… but also needs complete silence to recharge?

How can I build businesses, lead teams and make huge decisions with confidence… then spend 20 minutes overthinking a text message?

The truth is, we’re not supposed to fit neatly into a box.

We can be ambitious and exhausted.

Strong and vulnerable.

Independent and still long for connection.

Confident… and still have moments where we question ourselves.

For a long time, I thought those contradictions meant something was wrong with me.

Now I realise they simply mean I’m human.

So if you’ve ever felt like you don’t quite fit the labels society gives us…

You’re in good company.

We’ve become incredibly good at disconnecting.

Block.
Mute.
Unfollow.
Walk away.

Those things have their place. Sometimes they’re necessary.

But I’ve noticed something…

We’re losing the ability to have the conversations that actually grow us.

The ones where you say,
“That hurt me.”

Or…
“I think we’ve misunderstood each other.”

Or even…
“Can we talk? I don’t want to lose this relationship over an assumption.”

Not every disagreement is a reason to end a friendship, a business relationship, or a connection.

Growth isn’t found in avoiding discomfort.
It’s found in learning how to navigate it.

The strongest leaders I know aren’t the ones who never have difficult conversations.

They’re the ones willing to lean into them with honesty, respect and courage.

Because every conversation you avoid doesn’t disappear.

It simply gets replaced by assumptions, resentment and stories that may not even be true.

Maybe the skill we need to rebuild isn’t how to cut people off…

It’s how to communicate when things get uncomfortable.

That one skill could save a relationship, a team, a business… or even your own peace of mind.
