What a fantastic day at The Merewether last Sunday, with 77 junior golfers taking to the course for the Merewether Junior Classic! ⛳️

Our Greenkeepers’ Revenge 4-Person Ambrose is on Saturday 12th of September, and our greenkeeping team are getting their chance to cause a little chaos!

Expect tricky holes, unusual challenges and plenty of surprises along the way. It’s all about having some fun, having a laugh and seeing what the greenkeepers have cooked up! 😂

🌱 SPRING COURSE MAINTENANCE UPDATE 🌱

The team has been busy getting the course ready for the warmer months, with some important work underway across the tees and practice facilities. ⛳️

🏌️ TEE AERATION
Staff have commenced core aeration of the warm-season grass tees, taking advantage of the favourable early-spring temperatures.

This process helps:
🔹 Relieve soil compaction
🔹 Improve soil–air exchange
🔹 Increase oxygen availability in the root zone
🔹 Promote healthier root growth

Following the aeration, a targeted fertiliser application will help support recovery, encourage new growth and assist the tees as they transition from winter dormancy into active spring growth.

🌱 PRACTICE GREEN
The TifEagle practice green has also received its first light topdressing of the spring season.

Following a mild winter and early warm spring temperatures, the green has maintained strong colour, density and overall health throughout the cooler months.

The greenkeeping team will continue to monitor its performance as temperatures rise and conditions move into the warmer growing season.

Spring is here, and the course is getting ready for another great growing season! 🌱⛳️

🌱 GREENS CORING HAS COMMENCED 🌱

Greens coring has commenced today and will continue tomorrow as part of important ongoing course maintenance.

While the greens may be a little disrupted in the short term, this process is vital to keeping our bent grass greens healthy and performing at their best through spring and summer. ⛳️

Coring helps to:
🔹 Relieve soil compaction
🔹 Improve air and water movement through the root zone
🔹 Promote stronger root growth
🔹 Improve soil structure and drainage
🔹 Improve nutrient availability

The work being carried out now will help set the greens up for a strong spring and summer, ensuring better, healthier and more consistent putting surfaces for everyone to enjoy.

We ask all members and guests for their patience and understanding while the greens recover from this important maintenance process.

This past Wednesday, our Merewether Ladies hosted the 2026 Merewether Bowl, with a few cheeky showers keeping things interesting throughout the day. 🌦️⛳️

The course held up beautifully, the event ran smoothly and there was a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish!
