This documentary is a must-watch. It shines a light on an incredible local initiative tackling the explosion of sea urchins in our oceans and the devastating impact they’re having on marine ecosystems.
If you’ve ever watched videos of snorkelling with seals along our coastline, you’ve probably seen how the sea urchins are taking over, stripping the reefs bare and creating what are known as “urchin barrens” — underwater deserts where marine life struggles to survive.
Projects like this are so important, not only to help restore balance to our oceans but also to protect the incredible biodiversity we’re so lucky to have.
As David Attenborough has said, the health of our oceans is one of the most important issues facing our planet. Supporting local solutions like this is a step towards healthier oceans for future generations.
One way to learn more about traditional cultural sustainability practices is to go on one of our walking tours with a local knowledge holder. Knowledge handed down for thousands of years.
