Narooma Numnutz Winter Swimmers

Winter is in full swing .. and so are the 'Nutz !
One of those days when it's warmer in the water than out .. water temp 18° - air temp 15° but a feels like of 8 with a cool westerly.
12 swimmers in for the course, Apex Park boat ramp back around to Bar Beach with the outgoing tide. Card table rum & bonox, then up to a warm fire at the pub.
A hot soup and beverage .. and some NN business discussion. Planning is underway for the trip away to the WSAA Winter Swimmers National Championships, this year hosted by the Cottesloe Club over in Perth WA.
In this 20th Anniversary season the Numnutz will be revisiting the venue, last time being 13 years ago back in 2013.

Note to all Narooma Numnutz past , present and their partners .. the 'Nutz 20 year Anniversary Dinner will be on 22nd August at the Narooma Hotel.

Hi fans, the usual bunch of lunatics showed up for a morning swim in the beautiful Wagonga inlet this morning!
12 swimmers today endured the walk of shame around to Bar beach to catch the elevator rip out to the mouth of the inlet and then swim back to the spur wall for a shot of rum back at the card table!
Water temperature was about 16-18c with not much help from tide as Hexi got it wrong as usual,

Pea and Ham soup back at the Narooma hotel finished off the morning

A crack'n morning for the Numnutz today ! .. perfect winter swimming weather 👌
A light westerly breeze, air temp 14° - water temp 19° on an incoming tide.
13 signed in for the swim course, over to the Nth breakwall and back.
Afterwards, the usual at the card table - rum & bonox and a toast in memory of Ray .. then up to the pub, Numnutz HQ, for hot soup and a bevvie , out on the sunny deck at the long table. Some good ol' Nutz comraderie and humour !

Cloudy skies greeted the 'Nutz this morning , but whatever rain that was about had cleared away.
Today's stats .. air temp 16° - water temp 19° on an outgoing tide. 10 swimmers signed in for the course - a bit of swell surge happening so, over to the Nth breakwall and back.
At the halfway mark there was a break for the usual joke, this week given by Dobbo (obviously one from the Council favourites! 🤣)
Back to the card table, rum & bonox and a toast in memory of Ray .. then back up to the pub.
Another hot soup to warm up with .. and some general NN business, including plans for a 20 yr Anniversary Dinner to be held this year. All Numnutz past & present, partners and friends welcome .. Date to be advised, "watch this space"

Another sensational morning on the water for the 'Nutz second swim of the season .. perfect conditions !
Air temp 15° - water 20° on an incoming tide. 13 signed in for the swim course , over to the Nth breakwall and back.
The usual rum & bonox or coffee at the card table .. then back up to the pub for a big hot pot of tasty pumpkin soup ! (Locko missing out on his favourite again 🤣)

An outstanding morning on the beautiful Wagonga Inlet !
1st for the season with 10 signed in for the swim - South west breeze, air temp 15° - last of the run out tide, water temp 18°.
Course was a standard over to the north wall & back .. rum and bonox at the card table then back up to Numnutz HQ at the pub.
A traditional start of season cooked breakfast at the long table, out on the deck in the sun .. delicious !

It's 20 YEARS for the Numnutz !! .. next Sunday (mother's day) will be the start of the 20th season of Winter Swimming for the 'Nutz. Congrats to the originals there at the beginning .. and still going strong !👍
And welcome aboard to new pub owner, sponsor & supporter 'Ned' Kelly and his crew .. picking up and carrying on the goodwill and support started with Paul O'Brien's pub back in the day.
Season begins Sunday 10th May, as usual meet at Bar Beach South in time for a 9am swim .. followed by the traditional starting season cooked brekky back up at the pub.

Fellow Numnutz Winter Swimmer and all round legend Bucko is sailing in today's classic Sydney to Hobart !! .. on board the 50 footer 'Mudgee Concrete' from Cronulla Sailing Club.
The 'Nutz are wishing him the very best of luck and a safe journey down the coast and across the Strait to Tassie .. cheers 👍
