Pilates is great for moving our bodies, building stability, strength, muscular endurance, mobility, mind–body connection… the list goes on. 🤍
But your nutrition before and after class is just as important.
Ever rocked up to your 6am class running off a coffee and wondered why you’re suddenly getting the shakes during your plank series? Or stood up for your lunge and felt a little dizzy? Or hit 12pm and wondered why you’ve already completely crashed?
Well… nutrition matters. 🫶🏼
Fuelling before class might not seem essential, especially when Pilates isn’t always as high-intensity as other forms of exercise. But your body still needs fuel to move, concentrate and perform at its best.
You don’t need a huge meal before class — especially for an early morning session.
Try something light and easy to digest:
✨ glass of orange juice
✨ couple of Medjool dates
✨ banana (or even half)
✨ piece of toast
And don’t forget about post-class nutrition!
Aim to have a nourishing meal afterwards that includes a combination of protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats and fibre to support your energy, recovery and overall nutrition.
Pilates is only one part of the picture, how we fuel our bodies matters too.
