A bucket of fun this weekend with the 2026 VX One Australia Mid Winters and first VX One Oceania Championships at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

7th overall in the 18 boat fleet for The Beast⁡, with Ayla on Helm (1st Yth Helm & Female Helm), Ellie on main (1st time VX'er and 1st Female crew) and myself (Hayden) on bow pulling strings and looking for sharks. πŸ‘€

Lots was learnt throughout the weekend and we look forward to more to come.

● Thanks to Rope Solutions Rigging Services for helping us keep our rigging up to speed. The clear coat work they completed on our mast has held up fantastically and our ropes are on point πŸ‘Œ

● A shout out to GMD Activewear Australia, the team there help us with our customised team merch. To get in touch with them email ([email protected]).

● And Muir Marine QLD are always ready with supply for us chasing the parts we need at short notice. Check them out near the Manly Marina.

A bit of a VX One sail yesterday dodging the rain showers.

Brooke's first time sailing something that can get up and go πŸ€™

Top speed up around the 13s, nothing extraordinary but a bit quicker than a Compass 29 can go ⛡️

Been pretty busy with everything not sailing recently but did manage to get out for one wild day of Brisbane Race Week πŸ€™

The plan intially for my day off was to jump on with the Making Waves Team on Tribe (Modified Farr 40) but Natalie re-asigned me to get out with Steve (a Making Waves volunteer) to get through the last day of BRW on his trailer sailor. ⛡️

Safe to say that Chase and I had an epic day on the water trying to keep the big boats behind us in the Worlds Greatest pursuit race. A short kite run off the start followed by what felt like a the longest windward work towards Peel Island. Managed a flawless 2nd kite hoist that was quickly dropped along the reaching leg followed by a little kite prawning around the following mark... safe to say that got everyone's attention. We quickly recovered the kite unharmed, re-deployed and chased the fleet down to the finish inside Green Island 🏝

Huge kudos to the team at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (Staff, Volunteers and Race Management) for putting on a unique event, I've been watching from the sidelines from the start. Looking forward to getting more involved next year πŸ€™

Sooooo good having Sailor Girl HQ - Nic Douglass in town managing the media, take a peak below at some of the shots of us yesterday πŸ“Έ

Great to see boats being serviced by Muir Marine QLD and Rope Solutions Rigging Services on the race track! βš“οΈ
