Queensland French Yacht Owners Association

Queensland French Yacht Owners Association For the owners of French yachts in Queensland

The Queensland Beneteau Owners Group has three principal aims:
•To provide a forum for like minded Beneteau owners to share information
•The organisation of events for social and competitive sailing
•The organisation of information evenings

It holds three key events each year which bring owners and their boats together for a weekend:
•The French Challenge - a race for French production yachts

The Beneteau Cup - a race for cruising and performance yachts built by Beneteau
•The Bastille Regatta - French yachts race
These three events are usually held over a single weekend in October of each year and close to Bastille Day.

Adding to the international flavour of this Year's Mooloolaba Yacht Broker's Jeanneau Cup and French Yacht Challenge will be the participation of Sammy Evans in the regatta.

Sammy who lives on the beautiful French alps and RQYS's own Phillippa Cavanough have many miles sailing on Class 40s in Europe together. Phillippa and Sammy coached a full team of girls on a Class 40 with the finale race being the Fastnet Race. 600nm of tricky coastline, many tidal gates and complex weather systems.

They finished the season on a high by winning the RORC Class 40 championship! Phillippa got the phone call by satellite phone to announce that they had won whilst doing the Transat Jacque Vabre (TJV, double handed race from St Malo, Northern France to Brazil).

Sammy and Phillippa this year will race with their young boys, Pheonix and Thomas on board Phillippa and Scott Cavanough’s JOD35 (Jeanneau One Design 35).

We recently announced that Mooloolaba Yacht Brokers will be returning in 2025 as the sponsor of the Jeanneau Cup.

Mathew and Donna Hale have taken the batten from Ian Douglas and hit the ground running to take Mooloolaba Yacht Brokers to the next level.

Jeanneau is at the heart of the brokerage business, and they are both passionate about the brand.

Mathew said "We are looking forward to meeting all the Jeanneau owners and enjoying a weekend of sailing and entertainment at RQYS."

Mathew and Donna are keen to sail on a Jeanneau competing in the regatta, so reach out if you are looking for crew with inside knowledge of the Jeanneau range.
