O35 MEN’S DIV 1:
13 LEFT SYDNEY. 13 CAME HOME. RIVERINA RAID COMPLETE! ⚽️🏆🍀

Somewhere in the Riverina, another chapter of Rovers folklore was written.

13 players left Sydney. 13 players came home. Most of our attackers apparently stayed in Sydney, several bodies were still negotiating with Saturday night, and the usual Friday-night footballers suddenly had to play in actual sunshine.

What could possibly go wrong?

Apparently, not much.

Rovers produced some brilliant football to defeat Hanwood FC 3-0 and march into the next round of Champions of Champions!

First up was Wellsy.

Wait… the defender?!

Apparently he noticed the forwards were missing and thought, fine, I’ll bloody do it myself.

Then Sam unleashed an absolute rocket.

The ball hit the net, Rovers celebrated… and then came the inquiry.

Referee and assistant referee deliberated over offside for what felt like 10 minutes. Witness statements taken. Evidence reviewed. VAR presumably still travelling down the Hume Highway.

Eventually, the goal stood!

Then came big, bad Luke Boyd from the spot.

One glorious shining dome. One beautifully dispatched penalty to seal the deal.

Whether the keeper was beaten by Luke’s composure or temporarily blinded by the Riverina sun reflecting off that magnificent head remains under investigation. ☀️😂

Luke was everywhere, commanding the field and even producing a goal-saving intervention of his own.

John Jordan Player of the Match – Luke Boyd 🏆

Undisputed. Even documented by the referee. Dome and all.

Meanwhile, between the sticks…

THE CHAD IS GREAT HAS RETURNED!

Chad produced some of his best saves of the season and brought the clean-sheet factory roaring back into production. Not a moment too soon!

And then something even more extraordinary witnessed in this match…

Vino didn’t yell at the referee.

Champions of Champions truly is where miracles happen.

Off the pitch, Jodie drove six hours to support the boys, then waited around 45 minutes for a coffee and arrived for the second half.

We can only assume they were milking the cow to order. Hope it was worth it, Jodie! 😂

She and sidekick Brooke still made the journey to fly the Rovers flag. Absolute dedication.

Michael Noro brought the family along too, including Mum and Dad. You know you’ve made it in O35s when your parents are still travelling to watch you play football!

Then came the final whistle.

HANWOOD FC 0 – ROVERS 3.

And the Wild Rovers chant roared across the Riverina! 💚🤍

A huge tip of the hat to Hanwood FC. A spirited bunch of blokes, terrific competitors and brilliant hosts. Pizzas, beers and mateship after the whistle.

That’s grassroots football at its finest.

Three goals. Clean sheet. Two speeding fines for the journey. Stop in at Yass for the Panthers Match. Thirteen travellers safely accounted for - sounds like a tail from the Lord of the Rings!

Now the boys get a week off before the Champions of Champions adventure continues.

Rest the legs. Ice everything. Rehydrate responsibly.

THE BOYS ARE STILL DANCING!

🏆⚽ CHAMPIONS OF CHAMPIONS… THE ROVERS ARE HITTING THE ROAD! ☘️🚗💨

For those wondering where Hanwood is… it’s Griffith.

For those wondering how far Griffith is… about SIX AND A HALF HOURS AWAY. 😳😂

Yep, you read that correctly.

This Sunday our O35 Men Div 1 are loading up the cars, packing the boots, strapping up the dodgy knees and embarking on a genuine Rovers road trip to represent our club AND the Nepean district in Round 1 of the Champions of Champions Tournament! 🏆

Six and a half hours there means plenty of time for tactical discussions, questionable playlists, service-station cuisine and at least one bloke saying “we nearly there?” somewhere around Bathurst. 😂

But when they finally roll into the Riverina, there’s business to be done.

It’s time to show Griffith what the Mighty Rovers from Western Sydney are all about. 🍀🍀

📅 Sunday 13th September
⏰ 10:30am Kick Off
📍 Graham McGann Oval, Hanwood

Go represent the badge, represent Nepean and give it absolutely everything, boys.

And when that whistle blows, make sure the Riverina learns one thing very quickly…

📣 THE ROVERS CHANT HAS A 500KM RANGE!

Make us proud boys and let that chant be heard from the regions all the way back to Hickey’s!

💚🏆 ROVERS vs BLIGH PARK: VOLUME 2 🏆💚
ROVERS STRIKE BACK!

Some sequels never live up to the original. This one rewrote the ending. ⚽️🔥

After Bligh Park took the honours in the Season Grand Final, the football scriptwriters delivered Volume 2. Same teams. Another Grand Final. Another epic battle.

But this time… ROVERS STRUCK BACK!

It was bloody hot, and the gale-force winds were literally moving the ball without anyone touching it. Passes became adventures, long balls needed air-traffic clearance and at times the wind seemed determined to join the starting XI.

Against the season’s undefeated titans, the Rovers girls were simply relentless. Second efforts, pressure, chasing down every loose ball and fighting to regain possession. Even more impressive was the maturity to recognise when someone needed a break in those brutal conditions. No egos. Nothing selfish. Just a team playing for the girl beside them.

At the back, Audrey, Aylah, Alannah and Flick formed a green-and-white wall, led magnificently by Tilly for the full 70 minutes. Bligh Park’s forwards may still be questioning their decision to play attack.

Despite the heat, Tilly had ice running through her veins. Calm, confident and classy, she crushed attempt after attempt to break down the Rovers defence, earning herself the undisputed John Jordan Player of the Match.
Paddy reckons she was probably the rightful Player of the Match too, although with the heat, wind and intensity, he was impressed the voters reached a decision at all! 🏅😂

Molly got the Rovers faithful roaring early on in the first half. Right place, right time and reading the play perfectly, she pounced and buried a cracking opener! ⚽️🔥

Next came Flick in the second half, who finally explained the nickname. From just shy of halfway she sent one forward, Bligh Park tried to intervene, the bounce fooled the keeper and… ball meets net!

FLICK BY NAME. FLICK BY NATURE. 😂⚽️

Bligh Park weren’t undefeated all season by accident and found a way back into the contest, but the Rovers girls weren’t letting this chapter slip away - not one single player feared staring into the jaws of competition.

Excitement built, everyone looked at their watches, and then came the full-time whistle.

ROVERS 2 – BLIGH PARK 1.

NEPEAN CUP CHAMPIONS! 🏆💚🤍

Cue absolute scenes.

Coach Justin… speechless. Yes, Justin. Speechless. Possibly the biggest upset of the afternoon. 😂 Manager Nik went through every emotion known to humanity, Manager Lisa screamed from the gate like a schoolgirl and the Wild Rover launched himself so high Toyota may want its slogan back.

OH WHAT A FEELING! 🙌😂

Congratulations to Bligh Park on a brilliant season and another fantastic battle between two quality teams.

But Volume 2 belongs to the girls in green and white. 💚🤍

An all-round team victory built on heart, determination, maturity, second efforts and playing for one another.

What a way to finish - What a season, girls.!

And what a way to save your very best for last! 🏆⚽️

One VERY proud football club.

⚽️ THE SCOREBOARD SAYS 1–0. THE STORY SAYS SO MUCH MORE. ⚽️

🏆 Nepean Cup Grand Final
Emu Plains 1 – Rovers 0

Football can be a funny old game. Sometimes you leave absolutely everything on the pitch, empty the tank, chase every loose ball and fight for every inch… and the football gods still refuse to give you the bounce.

Saturday was one of those days.

And apparently Mother Nature had bought herself a ticket to the Grand Final too. ☀️💨
It was HOT. Both teams absolutely brought the heat, and the performances weren’t the only things that blew us away. Those gale-force winds decided a Grand Final needed an extra degree of difficulty!

Passes became adventures. Long balls needed air-traffic clearance. Corners threatened to come back and take themselves again.

Both teams faced the same furnace, the same wind and the same challenge. Emu Plains adapted just that little bit better and found the goal that ultimately separated two determined sides.

And while the boys covered some serious kilometres on the pitch, spare a thought for Coach Justin and Coach Dave on the sideline. The pair paced that technical area so relentlessly we’re fairly certain they wore actual patches into the synthetic turf.

Every pass kicked with them. Every tackle felt. Every chance had them edging closer to accidentally becoming the 12th and 13th men. If sideline kilometres counted on the scoreboard, Rovers won in a landslide.

Then there’s the glue that held this little football family together… Manager Rach. 💚

A mother to far more than just her own child. The organiser, supporter, problem solver, keeper of the chaos and the biggest heart in the team. The person who helped turn a collection of boys into a genuine football family. Even from the sideline she somehow managed to keep Justin and Dave in line, keep everything running AND still cheer louder than anyone for “her boys”. 📣

Every great team has someone doing the things that never appear on a scoresheet. For this team, Rach has been that person. 💚

Then came the final whistle. Emu Plains 1. Rovers 0.

But that scoreboard tells only a tiny part of this story.

This was a team brought together for the first time in 2026. A group of boys who began the season learning each other’s games and finished it standing shoulder-to-shoulder on a Nepean Cup Grand Final stage.

There were wins. Losses. Lessons. Big moments. Tough moments. Brilliant football. Probably a few new grey hairs for the coaching staff. But above everything else, there was growth.

These boys proved they belong amongst the best. They didn’t stumble into a Grand Final. They earned it.

When that final whistle sounded, they might not have had the Cup in their hands, but they walked away with something that means plenty around here… the pride of an entire club behind them.

So heads up, lads. Don’t stare at the goal you fell one short of. Look back at how much pitch you covered just to get there.

This isn’t full-time on this team’s story. It’s just the end of the first half.

Congratulations to Emu Plains on the victory and a Grand Final played in fantastic spirit under seriously testing conditions.

And to our boys, Coach Justin, Coach Dave and Manager Rach… you may not have won the Cup, but you certainly won the hearts of the Rovers family. 💚🤍

Some trophies simply don’t fit in a cabinet.

Proud is an understatement.

⚽️💚 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, ROVERS DADS! 💚⚽️

Today we salute the dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures who do it all… usually from somewhere near the sideline. 😂

The boot-lacers. The lift-givers. The forgotten-water-bottle retrievers. The volunteer coaches. The BBQ legends. And, of course, the self-appointed referees who have somehow never made a wrong call from 60 metres away! 👀🤣

Thanks for the early starts, muddy cars, endless encouragement and for always being there, win, lose or questionable offside decision.

From everyone at Penrith Rovers, Happy Father’s Day to the legends who help make our club more than just football.

💚🤍 Family. Football. Rovers.
