SEMI FINALS ARE HERE!

Congratulations and good luck to all teams taking the court for Semi Finals tomorrow, Saturday 5 September.

A few reminders for everyone joining us tomorrow:

• Please show respect towards players, coaches, umpires, officials and fellow spectators. Positive behaviour on and around the courts is expected from everyone.
• No dogs are permitted around the courts.
• No scooters around the courts.
• Unfortunately, our coffee van will NOT be available tomorrow, so make sure you grab your coffee before you arrive!

Let's make Semi Finals Day a great one and create a positive environment for everyone involved.

Think about the coaches, umpires, young leaders and volunteers who have given their time, supported others and contributed to another great season of netball.

For any Kiama Representative athletes and umpires turning 15 or 16 years of age in 2027, nominations are now open for the Illawarra Academy of Sport netball program.

This program is designed to help athletes develop technical and tactical skills in a supportive, challenging, and fun culture that introduces talented athletes, umpires, and coaches to performance sport.

We love to see our local athletes, umpires and coaches thrive in this environment.

Nominations for the 2026/27 IAS Netball Program are OPEN NOW!! 🏐

The IAS Netball Program is proudly supported by Collegians and provides unparalleled opportunities for training, coaching, and competition for young, aspiring athletes!

📅 Nominations close on Friday 16 October 2026, with the first trial being held on Friday 23 October at Kiama Leisure Centre and the second (for invited athletes only) being held on Sunday 25 October at Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre.

For the people who simply get in and help.

You know who they are.

They’re setting up before everyone arrives. Jumping into the canteen when it’s busy. Helping at working bees. Sweeping courts. Fixing something that’s broken. Staying behind when something needs to be done.

The Lee Ellem Memorial Service Award recognises an individual who has made a valuable service contribution to Kiama Netball Association, particularly over the past 12 months or consistently over a number of years.

There is no age restriction, and nominees may be a KNA member or non-member. 

Often, these are the people working quietly in the background without expecting any recognition.

If someone immediately comes to mind, nominate them.

Every game needs them, and developing strong umpires is an important part of developing our game.

Nominations are open for the KNA Umpires Award – Junior & Senior, recognising participation in and contribution to umpiring within Kiama Netball Association.

This isn’t simply about the highest badge or the biggest games.

Think about an umpire who:

• Regularly puts their hand up to umpire
• Takes pride in their performance
• Is enthusiastic and willing to learn
• Actively works to develop their umpiring
• Supports club and Association umpiring activities
• Contributes beyond their own allocated games

Recognising the people behind our Association.

The Maurie Brunker Memorial Award – Senior Association Person of the Year recognises a KNA member aged 18 years or over who has made an important contribution to Kiama Netball Association.

This award could recognise someone who:

• Coaches or manages
• Contributes through administration
• Helps deliver KNA competitions or programs
• Supports fundraising activities
• Regularly assists around the courts
• Contributes to the running of a KNA club or team

Their contribution might have stood out over the past 12 months, or represent many years of commitment to our Association.

The Joyce Wheatley Award – Junior Association Member of the Year recognises a KNA member aged 17 years or under who makes a positive contribution to our Association.

And it’s about much more than what happens when they take the court as a player.

We’re looking to recognise young people who demonstrate commitment, sportsmanship and leadership, while contributing to our game through playing, coaching, umpiring or supporting their club and Association.

Think about the young person who:

• Consistently demonstrates great sportsmanship
• Shows commitment to their team and training
• Steps up to coach or umpire
• Displays leadership qualities
• Supports their teammates and coaches
• Gives back to their club or the wider KNA community

They don’t have to be an elite player to make an outstanding contribution to our game.
