So proud of our Hawks O30 Women team, recipients of the Fair Play Award at tonight’s Football NSW State Awards for their actions supporting a fellow player from Pitt Town FC.
These ladies, their coach and supporters represent what we love about community football in this area and our club’s culture. Thanks to Nepean FA for the nomination and the invitation to the awards dinner, attended by Lisa and Simon Cavanagh on behalf of the team and club.

Congratulations to Hazelbrook FC O30W, recipients of the State Fair Play Award!
The Football NSW Fair Play Award acknowledges individuals or teams playing within Football NSW who have demonstrated an outstanding example of Fair Play and good sportsmanship during the 2026 football season.
On 13 July, during an Over 30 Women's fixture between Hazelbrook and Pitt Town Football Club at Berger Road, what began as a competitive and enjoyable game quickly turned into a deeply distressing situation when a Pitt Town player suffered a significant head injury requiring immediate life-saving first aid.
In those critical moments, the Hazelbrook players demonstrated remarkable compassion and humanity. Without hesitation, they rallied around the injured player, offering comfort, reassurance and support not only to her, but also to her teammates, friends and family members who were witnessing an incredibly confronting and frightening event. Their concern transcended the result of the match or the colours of the jersey being worn. In that moment, they recognised something far more important than football: the wellbeing of another person.
While their actions on the day were admirable, it was what happened afterwards that truly highlighted the character of this team.
The Hazelbrook ladies did not simply leave the field and move on once the emergency had passed. They continued to check in regularly on the player's recovery, showing genuine care and concern during what was a challenging period for both her and her family. Understanding the difficulties she was facing, they went above and beyond by organising meals to be delivered to her home, providing practical support and kindness at a time when it was needed most.
At a time when one player and one club needed support, the Hazelbrook Over 30 Women's stepped forward without being asked. Their kindness, empathy and ongoing commitment to another person's wellbeing serve as a powerful reminder of what football can achieve beyond the boundaries of the field.
