Under 14s Match report 26 Nov 2022 - Hazelbrook v Glenbrook Blaxland Perry – Hazo win by 22 runs
What a win! The Hazo U14s were finally back for a game on home soil at Gloria Park which proved to be gloriously fast, enabling bountiful boundaries. Hats off to Council for preparing the ground and removing the construction debris – the players also appreciated the whipper-snippering around the nets, and look forward to seeing the fence holes fixed!
Hazo won the toss and went in to bat, our 10 players scoring 166 runs before being bowled out in 35 overs. Alton top scored with a magnificent knock of 54 off 44 deliveries including no less than 10 fours. Declan delivered his career best with a mighty bash scoring 38 runs including 6 fours, and Luke made 27 runs including 3 fours. James and Toby also found the boundary during their time in the centre.
Hazo took the field to defend with a cohesive and positive team attitude. Bowling was strong, with maidens from Isaac (1), Toby (1), Charlie (2) and Alton (2) and wickets taken by Isaac (1), Toby (1), Charlie (1), Elizabeth (1) and Josh (4). Josh continued his sizzling form from last game, conceding only 8 runs in 3.4 overs, and taking a magnificent haul of four wickets including two in the last over, putting him on a hanging hat trick for next game! Charlie also bowled exceptionally well, conceding only 5 runs in 4 overs, and Alton had only 4 runs scored off his 3 overs. Our strong batting performance meant GB Perry had to take an aggressive approach to their running between the wickets and tight fielding gave us two critical run outs off the arms of Toby and Luke.
Altogether it was a fantastic win against a strong team who were second on the ladder and who had some stand out batters who we managed to contain. Hazo consolidated very good bowling and fielding and showed that consistent performances will get us into the semi finals, with our results improving every week. It is great to see the team dynamic coming together and players growing in confidence.
Thanks to scoring families Monks Roberts and Thomas, and Mark for umpiring.
