Danny Williams Racing has an exciting opportunity for a reliable, hardworking, and passionate Experienced Track Rider/Stablehand to join our busy racing stable in Goulburn, NSW. This dual role is crucial to the daily care and training of our thoroughbred horses.
The Role & Responsibilities
This position combines general stable duties with essential trackwork riding responsibilities:
• Riding and educating racehorses of all ages and levels, with a focus on riding pace/timed work, jump outs, and barriers.
• Daily care and maintenance of thoroughbred horses, including feeding, watering, rugging, and mucking out stalls.
• Exercising horses (walking, jogging, and grooming) and assisting with grooming and tacking up for training and racing.
• Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment and assisting with other stable duties as required.
Skills & Experience
We are seeking an applicant with proven ability in the racing industry:
• Previous experience as a Track Rider/Stablehand, with a minimum of 2 years’ full-time experience handling and educating thoroughbreds preferred.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating excellent horsemanship skills.
• Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbred racing.
• A Certificate III in Racing (Trackrider) or an equivalent international qualification is highly regarded.
• Experience in Education and Mentorship: We value individuals who can leverage their expertise to contribute to the stable’s high professional standards, assisting in the education of younger horses and potentially mentoring less experienced stable staff.
