Well the GFDRA had another great day out officiating football today. Nothing but happy players, coaches and spectators commenting on the high standard of refereeing set by Alan and Coppo.
As the Goulburn & Districts Referees Association is the only independent Referees Association around the area we are kept busy travelling to officiate games, delivering referee courses and also assessing referees.

The season never stops for us, This year we have been refereeing in Canberra, doing a number of school games and today we are back at it again. The GDFRA is always supporting football in the Southern Tablelands and where ever we are needed. We continue the development of referees in the Goulburn District. Goodluck to both teams today it should be a cracking game.

To all the football families of the Goulburn and surrounding regions.

The GDFRA would like to thank you all for your support over the past 15+ years.

For those that don't know yet the GDFRA will no longer be refereeing in the STFA competitions. As of the 6th of July 2021 the STFA without notice terminated the Goulburn & Districts Football Referees Associations services.

It is important to say again that from the 6th July 2021 the GDFRA have had nothing to do with the refereeing within the STFA competitions.

We received alot of feedback and questions over the weekend just gone although we appreciate your concerns that you shared with us we are no longer able to assist you with these and need to request that all questions and comments regarding the referees be directed to the STFA Board.

Although we were all gutted by this decision we are looking forward to being able to spend more time with our family and friends enjoying football from the sideline.

It’s been a long time coming and there’s a lot more to do but thankyou Capital Football - Official for standing up and saying enough is enough. We hope this helps with referees retention and promoting to new referees to encourage them to come on board.

We need to stop the abuse because it doesn’t stop once you leave the ground, as a referee you play this over and over in your head, you make a mistake and you play this over in your head, if only I was on a different angle or did I really get that wrong? Was that a red card or only a yellow? Was that player onside or offside, I have no AR’s I was confident it was the snide but they are complaining and telling me I got it wrong, maybe I got it wrong. These thoughts all go through your mind before, during and after a game, we are human, we make mistakes but please if you have nothing nice to say keep it to yourself or make a interchange and go and cool off.

Refereeing is very enjoyable and you get the best seat in the house to watch the game. We do love what we do and that is why we do it but we would love it even more without the abuse.

Congratulations to former A-League referee Jarred Gillett who has been promoted to Select Group 1 ahead of the new Premier League season 👏

He is in line to become the first Australian to referee in the Premier League.

This is disgusting! These types of parents need to wake up, this is not ever and acceptable way to behave and they should be banned from attending any sporting event. Codes must rally together in this fight, there should be a national register and these people banned for ever.

Professional and Amateur associations must stamp this behaviour out and not accept the excuses these people give “the referee missed a foul that cost us the game that’s why I abused the referee” there is no excuse for abuse, threats or violence. Be strong and don’t let them off with a slap on the wrist.

Match officials are bullied, harassed, bashed and have threats against there life made over a game. This must STOP 🛑

Great sportsmanship and respect. Both sides also formed a guard of honour for the referee as he walked off the field for the final time.
