Itās been a long time coming and thereās a lot more to do but thankyou Capital Football - Official for standing up and saying enough is enough. We hope this helps with referees retention and promoting to new referees to encourage them to come on board.
We need to stop the abuse because it doesnāt stop once you leave the ground, as a referee you play this over and over in your head, you make a mistake and you play this over in your head, if only I was on a different angle or did I really get that wrong? Was that a red card or only a yellow? Was that player onside or offside, I have no ARās I was confident it was the snide but they are complaining and telling me I got it wrong, maybe I got it wrong. These thoughts all go through your mind before, during and after a game, we are human, we make mistakes but please if you have nothing nice to say keep it to yourself or make a interchange and go and cool off.
Refereeing is very enjoyable and you get the best seat in the house to watch the game. We do love what we do and that is why we do it but we would love it even more without the abuse.
