2024 Powri National Champion 🏆

The Blake Racing team travelled to Lake Liddell Speedbowl this weekend for the 2024 Powri Nationals Championship. After a horror week of rain and uncertainty the amazing crew at Lake Liddell and Powri Racing Australia still managed to deliver an absolutely amazing event.

Night 1:

Peter was quickest qualifier with a 10.97 second lap.

Heat 1 started from P5 and finished P2.

Heat 2 started from P2 and finished P1

Feature was inverted draw with Pete pulling P2 and finished P1.

Night 2:

Heat 1 started from P1 and finished P1

Heat 2 started from P7 and finished P3

The feature race was set to be a battle between Pete and the #7 both starting on the first row. Peter beat Jacko into turn one and lead the first lap but unfortunately that's where their battle ended with Jacko suffering car trouble. The restart would then ignite a new battle with two quick guys in the QLD #10 and NSW #11 hot behind him. The hard fought battle for 2nd and 3rd saw Pete run away with the race and finally secure that #1 sticker that he was just pipped for last year!!

We had an absolutely amazing weekend with great friends. The Powri Racing community is such a family friendly and supportive environment that just runs like clockwork. The event was a sell out and the show they received was 10/10! You will not find a more organised, efficient, professional and supportive race environment anywhere in Australia and the promoters and sponsors need to be commended at the highest degree for everything they have done to make this venue such a safe and enjoyable space for families to come together to race!

Finishing the season with a Track Championship win and Powri Aus #1 is such a positive for our team after a few years of hard slog! We are very much looking forward to hitting the track again when the 2024/25 season restarts in September!!

What a weekend.
We travelled from our holiday on the Gold Coast to Lake Liddell Speedbowl to compete in the very first powri national.

With not having the N46 car done Pete jumped into the seat of Brendan car to give it a crack.
With over 66 cars from seniors 600, juniors and 270/450 microsprint it was a massive turn out. The racing was the best you will see anywhere.
The Saturday night we started it off with the first heat from last and managed to come through to second.
Second heat starting from pole and finished first.
Feature we was on highest point so started pole and that's where he finished taking out night one.
Sunday was pretty much the same with taking heat one and two out.
Feature we started off pole but with missing the set-up that we was trying to find we fell back to third and have to fight our we back to second where we stayed for the finish.
Over all very happy with what we got done with being in a car I have only driven in practice once or twice a long time ago.
Congratulations Andrew Baker on the win.
Would like to thank Brendan for the opportunity to drive.
The wife and kids for helping in the pits.
Everyone at the speedbowl for the great work they have all done to this fantastic race track and everyone that was involved in making the race so successful.
Time to sort out getting the new motor done on my own car and get back at it next year to see if we can go one better.

Over new year we competed in the Lake Liddell speedbowl speedweek on the 31st, 2nd and the 3rd.

31st December: The car was great. With winning all the heat's and the feature we are over the moon. Also cracking a 10.8sec lap which was on par with the 3rd fastest 600 so we was happy.

2nd January: We had qualifying and being the first lot on track after wheel packing we pulled a 11.01 and fastest time.
With starting off the back for the first heat, the car was just a good as night one and we managed to get through to the front. Last lap came and while crossing the line for the win tagging the wall and the car climbed the fence rolling across the line upside down back to front and every which way you don't want to be.
I was ok - the car had some damage. Put us out of the night with every bar holding the front end was destroyed and a wheel that vacated from the car.

With some help from the 270 group we managed to get the car just about there but was missing a panhard bar. Lucky we have someone like Tony Pryor in this sport and that he could help us sort it out. We we are totally grateful for his help and everyone else that gave a hand or part's.

3rd night: Rodney was on top point's going into night 3. We was straight into qualifying and not know how the car was going to be we put down a 11.5sec.
We managed a great night and t**e it all out winning all heat's and the feature.
In saying this with taking maximum point's we managed to take out the championship with my brother Rodney in second and Jason Summers in third.

We would like to thank everyone involved with speedbowl ( you know who you all are ) for all the hard work they do to make this place such a great race track. The whole family just love going there as it is for the whole family not just for the person that's racing. From the camp grounds to the Liddell reception park there is something for everyone.

Well tonight didn't go to plan.
Pulled the number one for the first heat.
Getting ready to hit the track and the car wouldn't change in or out of gear properly. We get out on track and thing's felt like it had sorted itself out but to only have the carby come off on the start. So we was infield.
Worked out the carby and was set to have a good second heat but to only have a 5 minute of rain come over and it stops the night.
A.c.t speedway tried there absolute best to get the track race ready again but it was just not to be.
To top the night off hitting a roo on the travel home. The tow car not looking so great at the moment.
Next race meet is set for my happy place, lake liddell speedbowl. The car has always been good at the bowl and it's the kinda racing I like the most. Elbows up and quick reaction.
Fingers crossed for no rain we need to have some racing.

Well it's race day. With a couple of rain out we finally have good weather.
A.c.t speedway will be the first round for this season.
With a little change to the motor and with never raced on this track we are hopeful of a good result.

Another great day racing at the Liddell speedbowl. This place is unreal and it's the kind of racing I like, a lot of elbows up and working the car in the slide. Bring on day two and running with no wings.
