Junior Race Wrap Up - 16th May 2026
On Saturday, in the midst of the Lennox Gardens race set up for the half marathon/10 k events, the Junior 1.6k race was held.
The overcast sky cleared and the course was laid out - 1.6k. Unlike the major events, registration was open until Friday afternoon, with 58 juniors registered. This was an increase in participation from the past few years. Whilst not a big income source, the joy in watching the juniors race is priceless.
While we take registrations for an hour on Saturday, Michele was still taking registrations five minutes before race start - it is very hard to say no to a two year old in a tutu.
With a further 22 registrations on the day, we doubled our participants from last year to 80 runners. At 3pm, wave one (10 - 15 years) and at 3:02pm wave two (
