One of the common patterns I see with inconsistent ball strikers is that they don’t shift pressure into their trail side early enough in the backswing.
By around P2, we want to see approximately 70% of pressure into the trail side.
Why so early?
Because an effective golf swing happens quickly. Loading pressure earlier gives you the opportunity to change direction sooner, push effectively into the lead side and apply force at the right time to support the movements we want through impact.
In this drill, I’m using the Downshift Golf ® board to provide immediate feedback and help create the feeling of loading into the trail side earlier in the backswing.
The goal isn’t to hang back.
It’s to load early → shift early → push into the lead side.
Better pressure. Better sequence. Better ball striking.
