You can't pick up gold without bending your back'... And if you do, you might need a backpack to put it in!

Congratulations to the large Woden contingent who are off to compete in either (or both) the Swimming Australia Open and Australian Age Swimming Championships from next week at the Gold Coast. Their selections are the rewards for months and months of dedication under coach Yuriy and his team.

This week at training Yuriy and club President, Marcus, presented team members with specially designed shirts and backpacks (thank you to parents Amanda and Clare for arranging this). So, next stop the Gold Coast. Good luck everyone!

What a way to close out our local long course season together as a club with the AIS all to ourselves! Lots of PBs and 3️⃣ last minute Age qualifying times ✅️ Thanks for hanging in there during the very rare lane rope break and computer issues. Luckily we had brunch ready to go for all those hungry tummies 🥓🍳

Incredible weekend at the NSW State Open in Sydney! Our swimmers absolutely smashed it, with most of the squad progressing through to the Finals. Check out these massive results:

Paralympic Program Events:

🥇 Jasmine: 2 Golds + a new PB!
🥈🥉 Alex: 1 Silver, 1 Bronze + a new PB!
🥈 Riley: 1 Silver + a new PB!

Olympic Program Events:

🔹 Sarah: Top 10 finishes in the 50, 100, and 200 Backstroke A Finals (8th, 8th, and 9th)!
🔹 Talika: 10th place in a lightning-fast 400 IM A Final!
🔹 Max Stewart-Moore: 11th overall, a huge PB, and winner of the 200 Backstroke B Final!

Huge congrats to all the athletes and a massive shoutout to Coaches Yuriy, Steve, and Santiago for the hard work behind the scenes.

WELL DONE WODEN!

Congratulations to our 24 swimmers who competed last weekend at the New South Wales Country Championships at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.

The country champs have always been great fun. Woden’s swimmers represented the club with respect and enthusiasm. It was terrific to see our competitors shaking hands and fist-bumping rivals before and after races. Great spirit!

We featured high on the medal table with

🥇 12 GOLD
🥈 3 SILVER
🥉 8 BRONZE

Also, a huge shout out to the mens’ 15&O 4x 50 medley and 4x 50 freestyle relay teams who blitzed their rivals

There was also a swag of PB’s. Well done all swimmers! Your performances and behaviour did the club proud.

Thank you to coaches Jasmine and Steve who under Yuriy’s leadership continue to help our youngsters have fun, strive for their goals, and learn from the community sport journey.

Hi All

In Day 2 World Paralympic Swimming Series meet:

Jasmine swam in 200 IM won Gold which was close to her PB 2:33.3

Alex swam in the 100 Fly won Gold and swam not far from his PB 58.0 as well.

Riley swam in 50 Br won Gold and swam PB 31.29

Today in Day 3 competition:

Jasmine swam in 50 Free A Final won Gold and swam PB 28.05

Alex swam in 50 Free A Final was 7th and swam PB 25.65

Riley swam in 50 Free B was 5th and swam 26.93

Riley won one more Gold in 4 x 100 Medley Relay

In total during this meet our swimmers won 5 Gold and 1 Silver medals: Jasmine won 2 Gold and 1 Silver, Riley 2 Gold and Alex 1 Gold! Excellent work guys!

Three of our Paralympic swimmers Jasmine, Riley and Alex are currently competing at the World Paralympic Swimming Series meet in Gold Coast!

After Day 1 competition Jasmine swam PB in 50 Fly 29:87 and won a Gold medal, Riley in 100 Br 1:11.77 swam close to his PB and finished 4th and Alex swam PB in 100 Br 1:13.55 and finished 9th.

It is being telecast on 9Now
