Henry brings a wealth of experience from the business world into the powerlifting industry and we look forward his contribution in growing to CAPO. Andrea Sterns has taken on the role of President. She previously held positions of CAPO Secretary and Record Keeper for 10 years, and is the wife of one of the founders of CAPO – Yuris Sterns. She is a WPC referee and has refereed at the last 2 WPC Wor

Her blend of lifting, refereeing and administration will be an advantage to CAPO as we move forward. Gary Jones has recently been appointed as Vice President. While continuing to maintain his exceptional role as CAPO Record Keeper. Mason Jardine has taken on the role of Referee Coordinator. Mason has been lifting for well over 30 years, both internationally and within Australia. We look forward to the experience and expertise Mason can bring to the role. When it comes to making events successful, some of the most important people are the state representatives, who provide the conduit between the state members and the committee. They provide the ever important feedback at the ‘grass roots’ level, and CAPO is proud the announce the state representatives are:

Queensland: Jonny ‘Bbad’ Nelson
South Australia: Beaudean John ‘BJ’Lines
Victoria: Ange Galati
Western Australia: Corey Millar

You are going to see a slight change on Record Certificates because unfortunately, Crystal Hadley Mackay from NSW has had to step down from the role of National Records Administrator.

However, we are fortunate that Sue Blakeley - Kerr from Queensland has agreed to take it on.

Sue has been helping us create and distribute certs for a few months and now she gets her name and signature on every one.

Thank you Crystal for the massive effort you put in for the last 2 years. We simply could not have kept up without you.

Best wishes with your future endeavours and enjoy the luxury of having your Record Certificates made and sent by someone else for a change!

Welcome to the new role Sue!

Team Australia went to The Arnolds UK in Birmingham England in March.

3 Lifters - Gary Jones, Joanne Allan and Josh William Peter

2 Support Crew - Hannah Clare & Brigette Jones

Josh was up first on the Friday for Raw Deadlifts. He pulled for 1st Place in the 100kg Class but just missed his 3rd attempt and ended up in 3rd Place. He needed exactly 10kg more than the Englishman, Stephen Brown to take the win by half a point. So close!

285X- 295 - 310X

The 285 was red lighted for being put down too fast.

Gary was up next on Saturday in Unlimited Bench. He got 3rd Overall in the Super Flight of 16 Men & Women of all ages and all body weights and was only 7 points short of 2nd and 13.5 points short of taking the win with his PB of 272.5kg that is now the WPC World Record and CAPO Australian Record in M5 60-64yo 125kg Class.

255.5X - 255.5 - 272.5

Josh was up again Saturday afternoon but was feeling it so went conservative on the first two before an all out attempt on the 3rd. He didn't make the podium this time.

240 - 260 - 300X

Gary was in the Raw Bench Super Flight on Sunday morning. With 3 monsters Raw Benching between 272.5kg and 295kg not even his massive Age Coefficient was enough to get him on the podium this time and he finished in 6th by 1 point to Hungary with 3 Brits taking 4th - 2nd and the incredible Hungarian Adam Moszkal taking the win.

Gary went 155 - 165 - 170X and broke the CAPO Australian Record for M5 60-64yo 125kg Class.

Joanne did Bench Only and Deadlift Only on Sunday afternoon and won her 60kg class in both!

Bench 57.5 - 62.5 - 67.5
Deads 130 - 135 - 145

The team did Australia proud and loved every minute of it.

The A/BPU is the WPC Affiliate in Britain (as CAPO is in Australia) and they are an extremely professional outfit running great comps.

The atmosphere at The Arnolds is massive and seeing Arnold on stage and walking through the crowd was unforgettable.

There is nothing in Powerlifting like being on your National Team and competing internationally.

We look forward to Worlds in Baton Rouge in November where we will get to put on the Green & Gold again!
