CAPO Powerlifting Australia An affiliate of the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) Henry Day was recently appointed the Executive Director of CAPO Australian Powerlifting.

Henry brings a wealth of experience from the business world into the powerlifting industry and we look forward his contribution in growing to CAPO. Andrea Sterns has taken on the role of President. She previously held positions of CAPO Secretary and Record Keeper for 10 years, and is the wife of one of the founders of CAPO – Yuris Sterns. She is a WPC referee and has refereed at the last 2 WPC World Championships, numerous National competitions as well as the GPA Worlds held in Sydney in November 2014. Her blend of lifting, refereeing and administration will be an advantage to CAPO as we move forward. Gary Jones has recently been appointed as Vice President. While continuing to maintain his exceptional role as CAPO Record Keeper. Mason Jardine has taken on the role of Referee Coordinator. Mason has been lifting for well over 30 years, both internationally and within Australia. We look forward to the experience and expertise Mason can bring to the role. When it comes to making events successful, some of the most important people are the state representatives, who provide the conduit between the state members and the committee. They provide the ever important feedback at the ‘grass roots’ level, and CAPO is proud the announce the state representatives are:

How about some stats on these guys to paint a clearer picture. As it was his birthday recently, I will start with Joe and add his numbers in photos.

There isn't much recorded for Allan Odgers but hopefully we can unearth some in coming months. Only 1 Comp has made it into OpenPowerlifting but we know there is more to be found and he was active at least between 1993 and 1995 competing in the 75s and 82.5s.

Update: All Lifters have been identified. Now I can fill out some stats and info on them. A name is one thing but what is significant about these lifters and what are they remembered for? More to come.

Dominic Morton and Chris Brown still going but not many other big names from this roster are still showing up. However, many of their records still stand and Coralie Weir who won here at 46yo also won Open Nationals at her last comp in 2019 at 57!

History Unearthed!

Thanks to Andrea Sterns we will be seeing some older results that have not been published on the CAPO Website or OpenPowerlifting.

Here is the first of them - Northern Territory State Championships 2008.

This Comp was won by Chris Brown who is still highly competitive nearly 20 years later.

I look forward to publishing more of these and seeing familar names popping up again.

No 4th Attempts were taken by anyone across the 4 days.

Keep in mind that Sleeves and Wraps are counted as Classic Raw in WPC. Raw is Bare Knees.

Note:
We do not know whether these records have already been broken at Comps in other countries before ours but these are based on the WPC Charts that were currently published.
