And that’s a wrap on Dance Canberra 2026! 🪩💜
What. A. Weekend.
It’s taken us a little while to properly wrap this one up, but we couldn’t let Dance Canberra go by without saying a very big THANK YOU to everyone who made it what it was.
Dance Canberra was created with a pretty simple idea — to give adult dancers the opportunity to learn from incredible artists, challenge themselves, try something new and experience the kind of workshops and opportunities that aren’t always readily available to adults.
And seeing that idea come to life across the weekend was pretty special. 🥹
To every dancer who joined us — whether you came for one class, a few, or somehow made it through all eight 😂 — thank you. Thank you for showing up, giving things a go, supporting our visiting artists and filling our studios with so much energy. We loved seeing familiar 6P faces alongside dancers from across Canberra and beyond, all sharing the studio together.
A HUGE thank you to our incredible Dance Canberra artists — Stephen Tannos, JW Murray, Matthew & Anna Bindley, Demi Jenkins, Dylan Bull, Jasmin Durham and Halimah Kyrgios.
Thank you for sharing not only your talent, but your knowledge, experience and time so generously with our dancers. We feel incredibly lucky to have had such an amazing group of artists under our roof for the weekend.
We also want to say a very important thank you to the ACT Government for supporting Dance Canberra through grant funding. This support helped make an event like this possible and allowed us to bring these opportunities to Canberra’s adult dance community. We’re incredibly grateful to have been given the chance to turn this little idea of ours into something real. 💜
And, of course, thank you to everyone behind the scenes who helped us pull the weekend together. Events like this take a LOT of work, and we’re so grateful to everyone who played a part in making it happen.
At 6th Position, we believe adult dancers deserve opportunities to learn, perform, be challenged and experience everything the dance world has to offer — no matter when they started dancing or where they are in their dance journey.
Dance Canberra was a pretty wonderful reminder of just how special Canberra’s adult dance community is.
We’re so proud to be the home of adult dance in Canberra, and we really hope this isn’t the last Dance Canberra. 👀🪩
