Significant changes to how Cricket Australia funds Deaf, blind and intellectually disabled teams prompt concern from players and advocates.

Cricket Australia, in partnership with the Lord’s Taverners, annually hosts the National Cricket Inclusion Championship (NCIC), which incorporates both Blind Cricket and Intellectual Disability Cricket tournaments.



While the ACT has a Blind Cricket team participating at the NCIC, we are excited to share that, with the support of the Lord’s Taverners ACT, we are proposing to establish an Intellectual Disability Cricket Team to compete for the first time at the National Cricket Inclusion Championship under Cricket ACT banner, to be held in January 2027.



To support this initiative, Cricket ACT is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from individuals with an intellectual disability who would like to be considered for selection. Interested participants must have an existing assessment or be willing and eligible to undertake one.

This session will provide an opportunity to learn more about the program, meet staff, and participate in cricket activities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

This Free workshop will bring community sporting clubs together to share experiences and build knowledge on how to take action on reducing alcohol harm with practical support from the Good Sports Team.

This workshop brings community sports clubs together to share experiences and build knowledge on how to take action on reducing alcohol harm, with practical support from the Good Sports team.

Your club plays an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of your members and local community, especially when it comes to behaviours around alcohol.



By putting policies and practices in place to manage alcohol responsibly, your club can be a community leader.

Join the Good Sports team to find out how you can help disrupt the link between alcohol and sport, reducing risky drinking and children’s exposure to alcohol.



The session will:

Explore how alcohol can cause harm in community sport environments

Engage clubs in discussion about how they currently manage alcohol including incidents, drink driving risk and juniors’ exposure to alcohol

Provide clubs with practical strategies for increasing the health and wellbeing of members and spectators

Discuss how the Good Sports program can help community sport implement alcohol and other drug policies and practices to create even safer and more family friendly sporting environments.
