Beyond Grappling Club We are a friendly kids, teens and adults Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club in Monash, Canberra.

Beyond Grappling Club is owned and operated by Olympian and Coach Matt D’Aquino. Matt has been studying Judo for over 25 years and Brazilian Jiujitsu for over 8 years. As a competitor, Matt is one of Australia’s most successful Judo athletes, representing Australia at the 2008 Olympic games and having won multiple Australian and Oceania titles, as well as being the only male to ever win the Pacifi

c rim championships. Matt is also a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Felipe Grez from Jiujitsu Kingdom. Matt is a passionate and experienced teacher, and has been coaching kids and adults Judo for over 15 years. He also possesses a degree in Education, and alongside his coaching has been a primary school teacher, has authored numerous Judo and grappling books, and operates a successful online Judo database, the ‘University of Judo’.

“Team work makes the dream work”

Over the weekend we had a heap of athletes compete at the national championships. It was an awesome weekend and BGC did so well.

However their good results was a result of the great training culture made by the training partners, coaches and support team of the BGC people.

So a big thanks to BGC coaches, ACT coaches and parents to help make the training great.

This year in particular a big thanks to Nikoloz, Kosta and his students for sharpening the comp team in prep for this event.

We all have a lot to work on, so see you on the mat this week!

Aaron and Hugo fought well but was unplaced. Blake got injured and we wish him a quick recovery.
