International Karate Shobu-Kai Erindale

International Karate Shobu-Kai Erindale Shobu-Kai has been practicing out of the Erindale PCYC for 25 years and offers classes to Adults and Children from 6 years of age.

Shobu-Kai is a traditional Japanese form of karate designed by Sensei Sadaharu Fujimoto, 8th Dan Shobu-Kai, 6th Dan Kando and 5th Dan Judo. The meaning of Shobu Kai is translated as:
• Sho Discipline of the mind and body;
• Budo To learn and practice the art of fighting to promote peace; and
• Kai club. Our head dojo in Canberra is run by Sensei Ivan Mehkek who has been teaching various styles of Karate in Canberra. He is a master of Shobu–Kai and still studies under the watchful eye of Sensei Fujimoto, our Founder. The members of International Karatedo Shobu-Kai strive for continual development, constantly learning to become superior and focused karateka. The art of karate develops through the increased experience of karate students. Shobu-Kai is constantly developing into a superior and applicable martial art. Our senior instructor is Sensei Dale and he is supported by instructors David, James, Thomas and Kevin with several other black belts and senior students pitching in.
