PaceProject

PaceProject Running Group for 10 to 25 year olds based in Cairns and Townsville working together to be the best we can Over the years we have slowly grown.

Pace Project originally started in 2012 with a small group of kids from Trinity Beach State School. Our goal was to get school aged kids from 10 to 18 years to be competitive locally. We are now a not for profit registered sporting organisation and are very excited to see what the future brings to us. We have not only grown in size but also aspirations. Pace Project is now the home of close to 100

budding young athletes, all of which have made it onto the district school team, many of which have made it onto a Peninsula XC and/or T&F Team,

In 2016 5 made QLD School State Team, 18 have made a State Club Team, 2 won State XC

In 2017 4 made QLD School State XC Team, 22 made a State Club Team and we had a further 3 State Champions. With continued, consistent, structured training we hope to only improve. Led by former dual GB Olympian Jill Boltz the kids know in order to get good results that they are required to put in the hard work

🌟 Pace Kids Take on the Mackay Marina Run! 🌟

A huge congratulations to two of our Pace athletes who headed to the Mackay Marina Run and came away with some outstanding performances!

🔥 Alexis (remote) lined up in the 10km with a goal of breaking 42 minutes. Not only did she achieve it, but she also absolutely smashed it, stopping the clock at an incredible 40:46! A reward for all the hard work, consistency, and commitment she's put into her training.

💨 Mia (Pace TVL) tackled the 5km and delivered a fantastic run in what we're hearing were very challenging conditions, with a strong headwind making things tough for all competitors. Despite that, she ran a brilliant 19:44, breaking the U16 course record in the process!

What makes these performances even more impressive is that both athletes executed their races with confidence and determination, showing that hard work and patience really do pay off.

Congratulations, Alexis and Mia! We are incredibly proud of you both and can't wait to see what comes next. 👏🏃‍♀️❤

36 Pace kids lined up at the 2026 Northern XC Championships and what a day it was!

12 podium finishes, including 2 Championship wins, and an incredible 21 athletes earning selection to compete at State XC in July!

What makes this even more special is that a number of these kids train remotely, showing that commitment, consistency and belief can achieve amazing things no matter where you are.

Beyond the results, the support on the sidelines and the way the kids backed one another all day was something to be proud of. The sportsmanship, encouragement and team spirit shown was every bit as impressive as the racing itself.

Next stop… State XC in July 🏃✨🏃‍♀️‍➡️
Let's Go🔥

Today’s Peninsula XC Championships was a special day for Pace Project.

While it’s never all about results, today’s performances reflected the hard work, consistency and commitment these kids bring week after week.

11 Peninsula Champions
29 podium finishes
48 athletes finishing in the Top 6; hopefully securing selection in the Peninsula Team for States.

But beyond the placings, what stood out most was the way our athletes competed. They showed courage, determination, composure and incredible support for one another all day long.

Cross country can be brutal at times, and every athlete out there earned respect today, whether they stood on a podium or not.

Very proud of this group and the way they continue to represent Pace Project.

The FOXES delivered 😉

Ollie seems to have spent the past few years in a constant cycle of comeback — growth spurts, niggles, injuries, and all the frustrations that can come with a developing athlete. But through it all, he’s kept showing up, trusting the process even when things haven’t gone to plan.

This weekend’s MAAC Championships felt less like a dramatic comeback story and more like a big collective “PHEW.” A reminder that a rough patch doesn’t mean the end of the story. Down is not out.

Taking gold in the 5000m for Iona was a reward for the patience, persistence, and quiet determination to keep moving forward through all the setbacks along the way.

Sometimes the biggest victories aren’t just about winning — they’re about finally getting the chance to show what’s been there all along 💪🏃‍♂️

Over the years, Tayla has faced her share of setbacks, but each challenge only added to the resilience and strength she carries today. Her patience, persistence, and belief in the process are now turning into something special.

This year has been a breakthrough season, with PBs at every distance from 800m all the way through to 10,000m — a reflection of the work that has quietly been building over time.

This past weekend was another huge step forward, taking the win for Iona at the MAAC Championships in both the 1500m and 5000m.

A powerful reminder that growth isn’t always linear, but persistence has a way of paying off.

So proud of you Tayla ❤

How amazing—and incredibly generous—of Angel and Kate to be competing in the Wheelbarrow Race from 8th–10th May in support of the Pace kids! The funds raised will go toward covering travel and accommodation costs for their upcoming races.

We are running in the 2026 Great Wheelbarrow Race. A 140km run, over 3 days, pushing a wheelbarrow! Beginning in Mareeba and ending in Chillagoe.
