Member of the Week: the wonderful Marie ✨

Marie has been a valued member of Byron Gym for over 20 years. A former school teacher, she would often train with us straight after a day in the classroom. She is also a qualified yoga teacher and kindly supported the gym by covering classes in the past.

Marie has always brought an adventurous spirit to her training, combining gym sessions (including Jason’s classes) with long walks to the lighthouse as preparation for incredible treks around the world, including the Milford Track in New Zealand, Machu Picchu in Peru, the Overland Track in Tasmania and journeys through the Himalayas in Ladakh.

In recent years, Marie has continued to evolve her training, adding strength work to support bone health, alongside Pilates with Ash and yoga.

Marie you are an inspiration to us all! We’re so lucky to have you as part of the Byron Gym community! 🥰

Join Caroline for Functional Strength every Tuesday at 6:30am and Thursday at 5:30pm! 💪

This music-driven class focuses on six fundamental movement patterns: squat, lunge, hinge, push, pull, and carry — helping you build real-life strength that supports you in everyday activities.

The feedback has been incredible already! After attending just a few classes, one member said she could already notice positive changes in her body. Another shared that “the classes are excellent, and we have some awesome instructors!”

Whether you’re new to strength training or looking to level up your fitness, Caroline’s classes are designed to help you move better, feel stronger and build confidence both and outside the gym.

Introducing our new personal trainer: StreTch

Here is a little introduction from .rayner 💪

I’m StreTch, strength coach, founder of Sustainable Training Method, and starting private coaching this June at Byron Gym on Jonson Street.

I’ve been coaching since 2010.

My career started in London, where I worked as a personal trainer before eventually owning and running a gym, coaching everyone from elite-level athletes through to everyday people wanting to feel stronger, healthier, and more capable in their bodies.

Over the years, my philosophy around training has become much clearer.

I believe strength training should improve your life, not break your body down.

I believe building muscle is one of the most important things we can do for long-term health, resilience, confidence, performance, and longevity.

And I believe good coaching goes far beyond simply making people tired.

Movement quality, intelligent programming, recovery, structural balance, nutrition, and long-term consistency all matter.

These days life looks a little different living up in the Byron hinterland, but the mission remains the same; helping people get stronger, move better, improve their health, and build bodies that continue to perform well for decades to come.

I’m excited to be working face-to-face with clients in Byron Bay and building a strong local community around sustainable strength training and long-term health.
