One of the most beautiful things about our body is our ability to build self trust..
Our own inner knowing & navigation system.
The pandemic showed me how much I have rehabilitated my ability trust in my body, my intuition, and to make my own choices in life.
I heard somewhere recently that confidence is self trust… which rings true for me.
As someone who never trusted herself for various reasons (cptsd being a big proponent), and who would either reach outside of myself to help to steer my life and choices in a way that felt safe, offered a guarantee, or that secured love (often at the cost of myself)…
I can absolutely say without question that we have the ability to find our own truth and way back.
If you’re anything like me… if you get overwhelmed by making big life decisions or lack the confidence to use your voice, or feel chronically like a ‘bad’ person(/girl), and somewhere along the way you lost your ability to even know what your needs are…
There is an answer, it’s inside of you!
The noisiness of our current world can really dull the subtleties of our knowingness. It’s not until we get quiet, and take a beat, that we can truly get to know our self and our needs, that we can grow an intimate relationship with the neural pathway of knowing…
It can take some time (and discipline) if somewhere along the line we learnt to shut off. Shifting our nervous system is an under taking, and changing our habitual responses to life takes some elbow grease, but it can be done.
It’s done through moving and connecting to our senses, through vitamin support, dietary changes, mindfulness, and physical touch… through learning about our nervous system capacity, being in nature, and turning the volume WAY down on all the incoming noise for a moment.
And most of all, it’s about listening for what’s a ‘no’ and trusting it unequivocally.
I have come to believe that there is no more dangerous a thing than not being able to trust our self, and there is no worse a feeling than being disconnected from our bodies own knowing.
In a world that’s gone a little mad..
may we always, always fight for our agency! x
