Whether you're just starting out or seeking reassurance, I am here for you! I’m Bree Janbroers; a passionate educator who remembers exactly what it felt like walking into my first classroom: wide-eyed, hopeful… and completely overwhelmed. . I hold a Bachelor of Education, majoring in Health and Physical Education, and I’ve taught Junior Science for the last four years. These days, I mostly work wi
th students in Years 7–9. I love the challenge of making learning purposeful for them finding ways to connect content to their lives. Over the past year, I’ve thrown myself into professional development, always learning more so I can support both my students and my peers.
Like so many new teachers, I experienced the burnout, the pressure, and the constant self-doubt that comes during that intense first term. I struggled to connect with my mentors and often felt like I was navigating the chaos of teaching on my own. I didn’t come from a family of teachers, so I missed out on those “insider” tips or stories growing up. Everything I learned, I learned the hard way through trial, error, and sheer determination to become the best teacher I could be. In my first year of full-time teaching, I was thrown into three subjects, Maths, Science, and HPE; two of which I had never taught before. I was waking up at 4am just to stay afloat: prepping lessons, trying to differentiate content, and figuring out classroom management on the fly. I felt completely unprepared for all the extra responsibilities no one tells you about NCCD, meetings, endless admin, phone calls, PDs, wild marking loads, behaviour issues, and trying to make every lesson engaging and meaningful. It never ended. That’s why I created this space not as a formal course or a perfect formula but simply as the support I wish I had. A safe, no-pressure zone where you can ask questions, feel reassured, and get practical help from someone who gets it.
